Vehicle Detail
This is a wonderful little Rambler that I'm sad to sell. I love the 58-60 Rambler Americans for their style, character and so much more. I always hear, "Wow, that is so cool and unique. You just don't see cars like that anymore.", and it is so true. Even when I go to the car shows or even Amc shows, I'm usually the only one with one. About 90% of the time. I own 2 Americans and have to let this one go unfortunately. I just can't afford to keep it to restore since that could be awhile and I don't want it to rot away. It's sitting under a tent out of the weather on top of a concrete pad. That's all I can do for it currently since I can't afford indoor storage. Soooo, more about the car. This car was bought brand new on 10/26/1959 by Ethel Arnold in New York State and over the years traveled down through the southern part of the USA and ending up in California. I can remember that it spent some time down in the Texas area, so it has spent much of its time in drier climates. I haven't gone through the papers for a while, but can remember some of the basics. I have most of the History on the car from new and it is quite interesting to go through. I know its had one paint job and the engine got a new short block at one point, but that has been long before me. I'm either the third or fourth owner of this car. I can tell you that since I have had it, I have put brakes and tires on it, cleaned and flushed the fuel tank and carburetor, done plugs, cap and rotor. These have all been done over the past, almost 4 years. We bought it from a gentleman in California in 2009 and where it had been sitting since 1998 when the brakes went out. We bought the car and then it took some time to get it shipped back to Ohio then we went through the process of getting it running. It is a running and driving car but does NOT have current license tags on it and not all of the lights are working properly. Its done more sitting than driving over the last 2 years but it has been driven some.I put about 20 miles on it last year during various times of moving from place to place. Summer of 2011 was the year that I dropped the fuel tank out and cleaned all the way out and it was actually in great condition. Overall the car is solid with only some minor surface rust. Under body looks to be good, I have seen a small amount of floorboard rot in the drivers floor where the access hole for the master cylinder is. That is pretty typical for these cars. The interior is in pretty rough shape and will need redone. The nice thing is that the original seat covering is still on the seat back of the back seat underneath the current seat cover. The seam is torn allowing me to see the original seat. So if you restore, you can match it up to the factory material. So I'm sure there is more that I could tell you and you are always welcome to contact me through Ebay's email or my #614-769-8372 I can help with getting vehicle scheduled and loaded for pickup or delivery. I just added a couple of pictures of the underside of the car and you will notice that it was factory undercoated. You will also notice a few surface rust areas on but that is all it is. Look at the rocker and you will notice that it isn't all bubble up, flaking or falling apart. This truly is a solid little car. One of the pictures shows the trunk area from over the axle. If there are any other questions, please feel free to contact me. Thanks for looking, TilorOn Jan-25-13 at 20:02:59 PST, seller added the following information: Just to inform all parties involved, I started her today and let her run for awhile at different rpm's to work things well. She did great and I also double checked the fluids. She already has fuel stabilizer in the take as we'll as antifreeze specifically for fuel of course. So all is well on this end and ready for a trailer. Good luck to all that are interested. Tilor
