Vehicle Detail
Relisting due to non-paying bidder :-( For sale NO RESERVE here down the street from Barrett-Jackson, Russo & Steele etc. is a 1975 450SL triple black - pretty rare. 96,400 Box "A" title miles. 4.5L V8 with 230hp. Clean and clear title. The SL has been in storage in Arizona for almost a decade and was properly brought back to life at a friend's shop last year. Gas tank was rebuilt and the whole fuel system cleaned and flushed with new injector seals and replacement of hoses. Motor and tranny oils and filters changed, ignition system cleaned. New battery. Started right up after that. Straight 150psi compression on all cylinders. Valve clearance was also adjusted and new camshaft oilers installed. Last owner had it for over 14 years in AZ. I have been driving it for several hundred miles now - drives, shifts and brakes as a Mercedes should. Nice paint with some minor dings. Has the manual AC - much easier to maintain than the vacuum nightmare from the later models (system has some freon pressure, but needs refill). Heat and power windows work great. Tires have good profile but are older. The soft top is ok, the small plastic windows on the sides need replaced. The hard top has some scratches to it. Interior is great besides some rips on the driver's seat back. Comes with sheepskins and dash cover. Headrests are also there, plus a 6-CD changer with amp and Infinity speakers. Has the early dual cats under the manifolds, therefore good for California. I added an original Nardi wood steering wheel - not part of the auction as of now, might give it to the buyer at the right price :-) I have too many Mercedes right now and decided to let this one go. Parts are very reasonable if you know where to get them (check AutohausAZ and RockAuto .com for parts made in Germany). Overall a great car for the right collector - my opinion. Not perfect, but so much fun to drive... Will take it to the Pavillions car show in Scottsdale AZ (101 & Indian Bend) this Saturday. You can leave your number through messaging, and I will get back to you. Private seller, no fees or taxes. Happy bidding! On Jan-19-13 at 18:32:58 PST, seller added the following information: Just came back from the show, got a lot of compliments :-)Noticed on the way home that the odo quit counting miles. Also, the door key locks are hard to operate (never used them, because I drove top down). Anyway, a blast to drive and a very nice car. Someone will enjoy this baby...
