Vehicle Detail
1965 Chevy 409 Impala ConvertibleLast year of production for the 409 engine This is a very rare and original Impala Convertible. This, being the last year for the 409 engine, makes this Impala Convertible very sought after. The 409 Impala Convertible was the least produced and most collectible of that year. This 409 motor not only was the last year of production, but it was only available for the first few months of 1965, less than half of the year. One more thing that limited the production was the General Motors strike that took place in 1965. The production numbers are very low especially for the convertible model. The body is very straight and the exterior has most of it's original red paint and has no major dents, rust or rot. Lower body panels, rockers and fenders are all very solid. The trunk floor has a few isolated pinholes towards the back and the rest of the trunk appears to be rot free with just surface rust. Back seat floors have been replaced. Front floors are very solid and original. Interior is also in matching red. Front door panels and front power seat are missing. Back seat and side back panels are there but will need repair. Interior and top skin will need upholstery as well. Dash is complete including aluminum three hole sport steering wheel and tilt column. This car is equipped with power windows, steering, brakes and power top. The odometer reads 59,091, but I believe actual mileage is 159k based on the age and condition. This car has been sitting for some time, so the 409 engine condition is unknown and is not running at this time. The numbers on the engine block match the VIN plates on the body, which makes this an original number matching car. Other original 409 equipment under the hood includes original 3/8 fuel line supply and fuel line return, deep groove pulleys and 1965 year only exhaust manifolds. I was told that the original factory installed long horn mounted on the inner fender is 409 only. The 409 is backed by an automatic transmission with a 12 bolt rear end. It has a clean title and I have the pink slip in hand ready for transfer. If you have any additional questions please contact me.
