Ultra-rare Polski Fiat 125p in exquisite original condition. The odometer just turned over 50,000. This retro Soviet eye-catcher is amongst the finest available anywhere, if you can even find one. We just acquired it from the original owner who pampered and garaged it from day one. Of course the elderly former owner had to wait 7 years on a waiting list to finally drive it home in 1988! But this was not just any car, it was far more special than the standard Lada or Polski-Fiat issued to government workers in the day. You needed more than connections to get this however, you needed to be way up on the government totem pole. While the Soviet system turned out to be a disaster, it did produce some outstanding products: Light bulbs that lasted 50 years; refrigerators that are still working to this day; and vehicles that were required by the government to outlast their owners. While rather plain in its creature comforts (optional front seat belts and plush seats) my immediate impression when first test driving this car was its solid quality- not unlike that of the indestructible Volvo 240 or Mercedes 123. Tight, solid doors. Well designed and quality interior craftsmanship and a robust Fiat-made 1500cc motor that starts with the flick of the key in subzero weather (it's minus 5 degrees celsius right now and she starts right up). It’s weakness was a body prone to rust. This example somehow escaped the inevitable corrosion so many others faced. There is simply no rust to be found on this car. The undercarriage is completely dry, pristine. The trunk floor free of rust. Interior floors free of rust. Pretty amazing, yet original. This is exactly what makes my job so fun. I love finding cars of this caliber. Likewise, I enjoy the satisfaction my buyers after receiving their car. Flaws: Some minor paint rock chips and scratches consistent with any nice used car. Since it’s just about to turn 25 years old in January this Fiat will be totally exempt from NHTSA and DOT importation standards. Essentially all motor vehicles 25 years or older are easily imported into the U.S. without red tape or waiting periods. This can be verified here, here, here and here. Importation is straight forward and takes just 30-45 days to arrive to your nearest U.S. port. All vehicles 25 years or older are exempt from DOT and NHTSA regulations and are streamlined through customs. We have now exported over a dozen Soviet cars to the U.S. and know the “ins and outs” of the process. Please contact me directly for more info: 801-203-3454 (skype-in number). The U.S. dollar currently very strong against EU currencies, so now is the time to import this beauty. The balance is due within 7 business days and must be paid by traditional bank to bank transfer. I try to be as flexible as possible however. Cash in person is always welcome if you choose to take delivery of vehicle in Hungary. This has been a popular option for some of my American buyers who want to cruise around Europe in style without having to rent a car. Hungary is centrally located in mainland Europe bordering Austria, Slovakia, Ukraine, Romania, Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia. And of course you don't want to miss the important tourist destinations of Hungary: Budapest and Eger, (our city) especially if you want to taste some of the world-famous wines here! Importation to the U.S. We export worldwide All vehicles 25 year or older are exempt from U.S. DOT and NHTSA regulations. If you've ever listed a classic car on eBay you likely have received calls from interested European buyers. Selling to Europeans is just as easy as Europeans exporting a car to an American. However, Americans pay only a fraction of the import duties Europeans do. Vehicles 25 years or older are exempt from DOT and NHTSA regulations. This means you can have the car shipped to your home directly, get it inspected just as any used car, bring the title and bill of sale to your local DMV, pay any applicable sales taxes and get it registered. California buyers should consult us due to exceptionally strict smog regulations - there are options. Step by step importation: After payment is finalize we will set up shipping. You can expect your car to be loaded within 2 weeks and on its way to the Rotterdam port in Holland or Bremerhaven, Germany. Your car will remain at the port under lock and key for several days until the designated container ship arrives for pickup. Your car will then be loaded onto a large metal container, much like a small garage, and it will be on its way to whichever port closest to your home city. By this time you will have the shipper's contact information and can get updates on the ship's whereabouts. Generally, it takes approx. 30-45 days to arrive to most U.S. ports. The shippers will have the car custom cleared and from there they will arrange shipment to your home, unless you choose to pick up in person at the port. Next step is registration/titling in your home state. This is much like registering any used car. The original title and bill of sale will be mailed to you long before your car arrives at the port. You need to bring these documents plus possibly state safety/emission certificates to your local DMV where you will be issued registration, plates and a title. Breakdown of shipping costs: Cost of shipping from Hungary to America depends on a few factors including current fuel prices, the U.S. destination port and market forces. Estimates: Hungary to Rotterdam, Holland Port: $600 USD Rotterdam Port to U.S.A Port: $1100-$1700 (lower cost to East Coast, higher cost to West Coast) U.S. Import Duties of vehicles 25 years or older: 2.5% of bill of sale amount Disclaimer Please remember that this is a used car and is sold "as-is" with no warranty expressed or implied. I make every effort to describe any and all imperfections, however all used cars may or may not have minor chips, dents, scratches, or imperfections as a result of normal everyday use. I will disclose to the best of my ability any known mechanical, structural, exterior, and interior problems. I would welcome anyone who would like to inspect the vehicle prior to bidding. My main goal is to ensure that this vehicle more than meets your expectations and you are pleased with your purchase. Please note: Hungarian law requires us to remove and turn in license plates before the car leaves the country, thus these are not included in the sale.
