  HELLO TO ALL. THIS IS A GORGEOUS 1978 CORVETTE INDY 500 PACE CAR (REAL ONE, NOT A CLONE) THAT HAS THE MATCHING NUMBERS 350CI V8 AND 82K ORIGINAL MILES. TURN-KEY AND A GREAT CAR TO DRIVE ANYWHERE!My husband and I purchased it in Springfield Ohio a couple of years ago, while down there for the classic car show. We always wanted a 78 Pace Car but were never able to afford one of the ultra low mileage examples out there, and since prices on those have been skyrocketing, we were lucky enough to find this very original Matching Numbers car with 82K original miles. Once we got it back to NY, we garaged it and did very minor things to it so we could use it any time we wanted.Mechanically the original  350ci V8 in it it fires right up and sounds great. Transmission is also the original automatic and shifts great. Now as for driving the car, i've taken it out mostly around the neighborhood here and there for a few functions, and sometimes we take it to the Island for a cruise. Brakes work well. Steers nice with some play in the wheel. When we purchased it, we drove it long distance from state to state and it ran without skipping a beat! Overall very sound and reliable car that can be used daily if desired.Motor is the factory MATCHING NUMBERS. It has been serviced regularly and driven on occasion throughout the last decade. Very healthy overall. Transmission shifts great. Electricals seem to be working fine. This is a car I would trust to drive home anywhere as I have personally driven it several times throughout the year.Interior is basically all original to the car except for the seats which were redone some years ago and dyed in silver (missing passenger side carpet piece behind seat). Door panels are presentable. Carpet is worn and has some stains here and there but overall still presentable. Dash pad has a couple of cracks near the speakers. Steering wheel has some wear. T-top inner panels in good shape and were resprayed silver as well. Console is presentable. Overall a very presentable driver quality interior.Underside is very nice and dry overall, with barely a hint of surface rust from regular use but NO major eye sores that I was able to see. GOOD solid frame overall with good floorboards (no big holes or major rot anywhere). Birdcage appears to be in decent shape overall and windshield pillars are very much intact without much if any rust.THIS 78 CORVETTE PACE CAR IS NOT PERFECT, SO PLEASE LOOK AT PICTURES, ASK QUESTIONS OR COME SEE IT IN PERSON. Paint is overall EXCELLENT and cleans up very well with very minor imperfections from regular use. Steering knuckle could use tightening as column has a bit of give. Steering wheel has some play so would eventually need steering box rebuilt/tightened. Not working: horn, clock, radio, gas gauge (needs new sending unit), air conditioning (all there and hooked up but should have compressor rebuilt and recharged) power door locks (these never work on these cars) and perhaps a bulb or two may need replacing. May have a couple of minor leaks underneath, but nothing that would leave a big puddle. There are various other small issues with it, as with any other old car, and i'm not gonna sit here and list them all as it would be no point. So overall she is nowhere near perfect and will need some form of TLC depending on how nice you want it to be and what you plan to do with the car.If you just want a VERY NICE MOSTLY ORIGINAL DRIVER needing some tlc, this is the car for you. If you want a show car, it will need some serious investment to bring it up to that level of course. I ENCOURAGE ANYONE BIDDING OR SERIOUSLY INTERESTED TO COME LOOK AT IT IN PERSON.
