I am selling one of my project cars as I have too many projects on my plate at the moment, so this one is up for sale. It is a very rare 1970 Dodge Challenger with the 340 Performance Package (A66 Package) and a 4 speed. Factory Plum Crazy Purple (FC7) with a white wrap around Bumble Bee stripe and white interior. The original engine, transmission and rear axle are missing, but the car does have a clear California title and the fender tag, dash VIN and the cowl VIN all match (sorry no broadcast sheet). Currently under the rear of the car is an 8 1/4 rear end, but I do have a B-body 8 3/4 that goes with the car and the correct 11 inch drum brakes. I also have a running 318 (minus carb and intake) with 1970 340 heads that was removed from my 72 Challenger when I upgraded its engine, and a large bearing 833 4 speed with a correct 1970 bellhousing that will go with the car, as well as the driveshaft. There is no 4 speed linkage with the car but it is all available from many sources. I do have a pistol grip handle to include with the car. The fender tag reads as follows: N95 R11 V9W 26 END FC7 A66 C55 M21 N41 N42 FC7 H6XW 000 929 040594 E55 D21 JH23 H0E 108143 In 1970 you could not get an R/T Challenger with a small block. This is the closest to a small block R/T that Dodge created in 1970. This car is equipped with front and rear 11 inch manual drum brakes, front sway bar, AM Radio, bucket seats, 2 speed windshield wipers, 26 inch radiator, and dual exhaust with chrome tips. Most of the hard work on this project has been done. The panels that have been replaced on this car are the mid and rear floor boards, drivers side front floor board, drivers quarter panel, passenger lower quarter panel, both inner fenders, both front frame rails, the radiator support and the drivers trunk extension panel. The trunk pan has pitting in it but it is solid and doesn't need to be replaced. The body has been stripped and most of the body work has been roughed out. All of the body panels are there including the front and rear valences. It would not take a skilled body man very long to get this car ready for paint. I recently pulled the front suspension apart to check which components need replacing. The front suspension will need lower ball joints, idler arm, sway bar end links and shocks. The front brakes need to be gone through (shoes/wheel cylinders). I have most of parts for the car, which of course are included in the auction. I believe that the remaining parts that are missing are readily available new. I have most of the trim except for the hood trim, headlight bezels and rear decklid/quarter extension molding. I have a new headliner and front seat covers. The door panels and seat backs are driver quality and should be dyed. I am missing the A-pilar molding, but have the rest of the interior window trim. All of the glass is there minus the windshield. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me and I will answer them as soon as possible. This is a great start on a rare Mopar. I am not sure how many 340 4-speed Plum Crazy Purple cars were produced, but it could not have been very many, then add on the white interior and the car is that much more unique.
