Vehicle Detail
This is a no reserve listing. Let me begin by saying I believe this to be the finest-quality 1970 Buick Electra 225 for sale in the entire world. This car has 26,745 original miles and it is a true survior in all-original condition. The car carries all-original paint, and everything is exactly as it was built, other than normal maintenance. This car is so pristine that it could certainly belong in a museum, high-end car collection or entered into shows and competitions for original vehicles. A Buick dealer could put this car right on the showroom floor as an attraction. You may find restored Electras for sale, but a car is only original once. This car cannot be replicated by any restoration shop for any price. This car just came from the collection of the original owner, who recently passed away. This car was stored in his climate-controlled warehouse for the last 38 years, and only brought out to occasionally "exercise" the car and for maintenance and service. His wife decided to sell this car. This is an Electra 225 with the following equipment and options:original 455cid, 10.25:1 compression ratio, 370 HP, 510 lb-ft V8 engineautomatic transmissionclimate control with A/Coriginal AM/FM radio which works greatpower windows Recently the car was sent to our local Chevrolet dealer for a checkup and service. They commented that they had never seen a 1970 vehicle in this sort of original condition. They dropped the fuel tank and flushed it, along with the fuel lines and carburetor. All the fluids and filters plus the master cylinder were replaced and the car was given a basic service and maintenance routine. The dealer suggested replacing the original tires, which were still on the car. The tires installed have the correct whitewall width. This service cost $1600. 1970 was known as the last year for horsepower in GM engines. In fact it was the peak horsepower in the last days before emissions controls and restrictions. This car has the 1970-only high-compression (10.25:1) 455 V8 with 370 HP and 510 lb-ft of torque. No 455 before or since has been rated at that horsepower, and in 1971 the compression ratio was dropped to 8:1 to comply with emissions restrictions and unleaded fuel. Included with this car is the original sales order from 1970, the tank sticker, a copy of the original 1970 title and the original Protecto-Plate. Also included is the official Buick sales brochure from 1970 and the original owner's manual. This car carries all-original paint, and it has never had any bodywork or paintwork. The paint is in flawless superb original condition with no oxidation, wear or body rust whatsoever. To be absolutely nit-picky, there are a few tiny stone nicks on the leading edge of the hood. That's it. The body panels are die-straight and beautifully clean. The chrome and stainless trim are bright and shiny with no wear and no pitting. The underside of the car is oustandingly clean as well. The interior of the car is all original, with flawless seat upholstery, carpet and plastics. Even the original weatherstripping is in superb condition. This interior literally appears as though no one has ever sat in the car. It shows NO wear. The car still SMELLS new inside, in fact. This car starts, runs and drives perfectly. The car is literally silent down the road. There is not one squeak, rattle or shimmy. The car is tight, solid and has a commanding presence on the road. Literally every control, every switch and every button feel absolutely tight and new to the touch. The doors open and close without so much as the slightest rattle- they are solid like a bank vault door. This car runs and drives as though it were new. Under the hood is clean and all-original. The crayon inspection numbers are still brightly written on inner fender and core support. This car has never seen snow, salt or a cigarette in its entire existance. The fuel tank is full of premium fuel with lead substitute plus fuel stabilizer. In fact, this car looks nicer in person than the photos could ever show. This is a one-in-a-lifetime vehicle that belongs in the hands of deserving owner. This description is not exaggerated. This is believed to be the finest-quality 1970 Buick Electra for sale in the world. I have a number in mind that would buy this car before the listing is over. If you have questions, please call Richard at 216 389 7100 or John at 440 339 4341. On Dec-15-12 at 07:26:53 PST, seller added the following information:A few bidders have asked, "How could the carpet be so clean?". It's because they have been covered since new by the original Buick rubber floor mats, which are in excellent condition and are included with the car.
