Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible. I have owned the cover for six years and put thousands of dollars into it while in my ownership. Virtually everything mechanical on the car has been rebuilt or new as I used the car as a daily driver and I wanted a reliable car that I could drive anywhere. The car drives quite nicely, does not overheat, tracks well on the road and is fun to drive. I was going to redo the interior, body and paint work next, but purchase of a new home has changed those plans and the car is now for sale. I have a very reasonable reserve on the car considering the amount of money into it. You may contact me if you must know what it is. The car is equipped with the following Ford options: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 2v – 289 V8 C4 Automatic Transmission Air conditioning Center console Power Top Power steering6,000 RPM Rally Pac Door tag information is: VIN: 6F08C319946 Body: 76A Color: Z Trim: 26 Date: 16D DSO: 54 Axle: 6 Trans: 6 Engine – Virtually everything in the engine compartment has been rebuilt or replaced. The engine was rebuilt about 1,500 miles ago. The alternator was rebuilt, the distributor is electronic (Pertronix II), the coil is a pertronix unit, the carburetor was rebuilt, the battery was replaced and has the Autolite cover, water pump was replaced, radiator hoses are new, new 3-core radiator, new thermostat, heater core was replaced, and the engine gauge feed wiring is new. I have receipts for the engine rebuild, transmission rebuild, and exhaust that is a little over $5,000. Transmission – The C-4 automatic was rebuilt at the same time as the engine and has approx. 1,500 miles on it. Exhaust – The exhaust was replaced at the same time the engine and transmission were rebuilt. Front suspension – The front suspension was fully rebuilt in February 2012. New upper control arms, new lower control arms (Scott Drake), new 620lb coil springs, KYB shocks, all new bushings (sway bar, end links), and rollerized spring perches. Just had a front end alignment. Rear suspension – Leaf springs were replaced several years ago and are Grab-a-track 4 ½ mid-eye leaf springs. KYB shocks were also installed Brakes – Has drum brakes all around. Brake drums, pads, etc were all replaced a few years ago. Brakes are properly adjusted stop as well as drum brakes should. Power Steering – The power steering system has been rebuilt and all hoses were replaced. The system does not leak like most do. Tires/Wheels – The wheels are American Racing 17x8 Torq Thrust II’s. The tires are 235/45/17 Kumho Ecsta. These were approximately $1,300. Interior – The interior upholstery is original. Both front seats have tears in the bottom cushion at the seams. The back seat does not have any tears. The carpet and door panels are original as well. The air conditioning unit is in good condition and still works (blows cold). The console is in nice shape. The instrument bezel is new. The radio is a Custom Autosound AM/FM unit (looks identical to the original), with a iPod hook up through the ash tray so you can listen to your iPod or iPhone while driving. There are two Pioneer speakers in the kick panels. The steering wheel is decent and not cracked. Rally Pac only goes to 2,000 RPM which I believe is due to interference with the Pertronix ignition. The clock stopped working awhile ago. The hump hugger console with cup holders is not included and will be removed. Body – From what I was told, it was last painted in 1979 (candy apple red). I’ll try to point out all of the flaws rather than the positives below. The paint wasn’t prepped well and is thin and has flaked off on the front valance. There are various chips around the body. There is a small dent on the driver’s side front fender and a small dent in the trunk lid on the passenger side. The underside of the doors are clean and are not rusted. There is rust bubble on the passenger door skin (see picture). There is a dime sized rust bubble on the passenger side rear quarter just before the wheel well opening (see picture). There is rust in the passenger side rear wheel well towards the bottom of the wheel well. The picture probably makes it look worse than it is. There is rust in the passenger side rear wheel well where it meets the rocker. There is rust between the floor and the rocker on both the driver and passenger side. The rust is approximately ½” wide by approx. 8” long. There was probably some work done on the passenger side floor as there are some screws coming through the floor and some undercoating. I tried to take a picture of this. There is a small hole in the passenger side torque box.The front frame are clean and are not rusted. Both rear frame rails has a very small amount of rust above where the leaf spring mounts. There appears to be signs of previous accident damage on the passenger side of the car as evidenced by small waves in the dash. Despite the imperfections noted above, all body panels line up nicely. Exterior chrome – All exterior chrome looks to be original and needs replacing. Bumpers have various scratches. Rear bumper has a small spot where the chrome has all flaked off. Fog lights are not hooked up and will be removed, not included with sale. Glass – All glass is Carlite with exception of the passenger window. The front windshield is pitted and has scratches. Power Top – The power top works well. There are no rips in the top and it does not leak. The rear window is plastic and is blurry. Please ask any questions prior to bidding. I am serious about selling the car and expect the same from buyers. Shipping is the buyer's responsibility but I will try to be as accommodating as possible to help with the arrangements. Disclosures: This car is sold as-is, where is without any implied warranty or guarantee. I have tried to describe the car as accurately as possible but it is impossible for me to list everything positive and negative about the car. I encourage potential buyers to ask questions and have the car inspected. Lastly, the title is clear but held by a credit union. Therefore, the title will be sent directly to buyer once the car is paid in full and the loan is paid off. A $500 deposit is due within 24 hours of sale.
