Vehicle Detail
This car only has 28 miles. It was never drove. I bought this Dart from an estate in 2009. The story I got was the father (born about 1900) had bought this car new. He drove the car home and took ill and died about a year later. The son (born in 1921) was a recluse that didn't want to drive dads car so he put it up on blocks in there one stall garage and locked the door. Well the son died in 2009 and that's how I heard about the car. When the family opened the door they found this brand new Dart sitting there covered with about an inch of dust. One of them had a friend with a rollback so they hauled it to his shop. They pumped the old gas out of the tank and changed the oil. It still has it's original oil filter. They put a battery in it and let it crank over for a little bit and it fired right up. They found it has one stuck valve (which it still has). They also found that the clutch was stuck (it still is). That's about as far as they got outside of giving it a wash job. After I bought the car I started it a couple time and let it warm up just idling for about a half hour at a time hoping the valve would free up. It didn't. This car is like a time warp. The plastic of the grille, parking lights, tail lights are like NOS. The interior is like new condition. Trunk area is like new condition. Even the grease in the door latches is still light gray in color. This car still has the original air in the tires. There is a chalk X mark (see picture) on the outer rocker on drivers side. My understanding is that is a chalk mark from the factory (never got washed off). How rare is that. You will notice that it has snow tires on the back. They were put on at the dealer before it left. The Dart was bought in February and if you know anything about the tires back then they would have been needed to get around in Minnesota winters. Still has it's original 695X14 tires on the front. They still have the nipples (see picture) on the face but do have some weather checking. This car still has all it's original fluids outside of the oil so if you were to use the car they would all have to be replaced. Still has it's original air filter which looks NOS. The bare metal on the rear-end and a-frames have some minor rust scale showing. It was undercoated new so the rest of the underside is pretty clean. The original paint is very good outside of about 6 small spots on the hood. Chrome on the car is good also. I have the original 1972 plates (see picture) registered with the car. Dart has a bonded title in my name. The original title was lost so we had to go this way to get a legal title. I've had sceptics ask what kind of documentation that I have to prove that it's got 28 miles. The only answer I have is how do you get documentation for a car that was never drove. You usually have records for oil changes, yearly registration and things like that. Well this car never had anything done to it. I have the original window sticker (see picture). I'm 59 years old and have always hunted for low mile cars. Well after buying this one I never done anything with it. If I did fix it I feel I'd never drive it any ways. I wouldn't want to put miles on it. Sort of took the fun out of owning it. It's tucked anyway in the corner of my building (see last picture) and hasn't moved since 2010. I figured I'd list it on Ebay to see if someone might give me enough to sell it. Some of my pictures aren't the greatest but should give you an idea of what your looking at. I've tried to describe the Dart the best I could. Please ask intelligent questions and they will be gladly answered. The Dart can sit in my garage until you can have it shipped. All I ask is to have enough notice to get stuff moved around to get it out. Now remember that this car hasn't been started since 2010. Hasn't been driven since 1972. It will not be running when it is picked up. You will be buying it as-is. I will post a buy it now if we work out a price:Thanks for looking at the Dart:
