Vehicle Detail

2000 JAGUAR XKR CONVERTIBLE Outstanding fun in the sun car for a fraction of the cost it should be. ****PLEASE NOTE THIS CAR CAN ONLY BE SOLD TO PRIVATE PARTIES OUTSIDE ARIZONA OR LICENSED AUTO DEALERS**** First off this car does have a salvage title. It has been 95% repaired and is being sold as is with a salvage title. I will explain in detail below and please read the whole listing. We are very straight forward about the cars we sell and I won’t hide anything I know about this or any other vehicle as you will read. This triple Black Jaguar XKR was purchased by my previous dealership at an insurance auction in South Carolina called Total Resource, back on 11/10/2011. The pictures posted clearly show the damage to the front of the car but it was completely drivable even in this state. The cooling system nor any of the front end drive train were damaged at all. The only damage is what is shown in the pictures. The only part not shown that was damaged was the front bumper inner support which is a metal brace that runs between the front fenders that the front bumper and sensors bolt too. This part is welded on and it was cut loose, straightened and re welded back in place. My plan on this car was to repair it and drive it for a couple of months as a personal demo which I did so I proceeded to locate the parts needed for the repair including the hood, front bumper, headlights, passenger side and driver side airbags. I also had a new windshield installed. All this work was done by a bodyman I have known for years but it was the last project he did before relocating to CA and sadly this isn’t some of his best work and due to the timing of it all I didn’t have much choice then to accept it. This is the main reason this car is being sold well below what I have in it and what it is actually worth even with a salvage title. Now let me tell you about the car itself. First off I am a Jaguar nut and have personally owned over a dozen in my life and had always wanted an XKR, the 370 HP Supercharged engine makes it one of the fastest cars then (2000) and now with zero to 60 times clocked at 5.3 seconds. Unlike Turbos the Supercharger responds as soon as you hit the gas. This car does fly if you need it too and I am being honest, it has seen the plus side of 100 a couple times while in my possession. It drives straight as an arrow, stops on a dime and handles as well as they always did. It is however a 2000 with a 4.0 litre motor and they are known to have issues. The most common are the timing chain tensioners, these were replaced by the previous owner and is something I ALWAYS check and recommend having checked when buying a pre 2003 4.0 motored car. Also the thermostat housing was replaced as was the water pump which are also common failure issues. The ABS module was completely rebuilt, new front brakes were added and the rotors were turned. The AC had a complete recharge and sadly upon them blowing out the oil cooler hoses were replaced with new upgraded ones. The car needs almost nothing to be 100% correct. Mechanically its very sound and will run like a scalded dog. Everything works*, runs, shifts, stops and turns as it should. The interior is in very good condition with the common drivers seat leather cracking but it is NOT worn away. The top works perfect and its in great condition though the headliner is dirty. The center console cup holder works as it should as do the heated seats, CD changer, navigation system (thou no updates since 2000) the memory buttons work as do the power seats*, cruise control, tilt wheel and sport trans and traction control buttons though the ashtray cover wont close but I have the spring that came loose if you want to tackle fixing it. *All the windows work but the left (driver side) rear as the regulator (common issue) went bad and the motor was unplugged meaning that window remains up all the time. The power top motor works fine and DOES NOT leak (another common issue). Again, this car really is mechanically in great condition and with tires that are like new it could be driven anywhere anytime. Heck if you notice in the pictures the car was purchased with 107,000 miles on it and currently has over 112,000 so yes I know this car well as I have personally driven it over 5000 miles since it was repaired. The metallic Black paint is good condition but the repair work does take away from it, the gap lines on the front fenders as they meet the hood and headlights are wider than they should be and while the hood is a XK hood it was a NON XKR so the bodyman cut the holes in it and set the XKR grills, this looks ok but isn’t 100% correct. Also, he did with my approval, paint the front grill and bumper guards black along with the front of the car which gives it a meaner look. I had JUST the hood and front bumper painted. He did NOT paint anything else on the car just where the damaged parts where replaced. So why the specifics about selling it. Well after replacing the air bags (have receipts) the air bag light is still on and since only Jaguar can check it and clear it we have decided this is the end of the road as to investing any more money in this. I can prove for a fact I have well over $8000.00 invested into this car and we just need to stop and sell and now is the time. This car was rolled into Fox Auto LLC’s inventory back in May of this year, its been on the books too long and the only way we can sell to an Arizona resident we have to spend the time and money to have Jaguar clear or rest the code. In other states this doesn’t matter, I have all the receipts to prove all the repairs that were done and there are no issues with anything but the air bag light which can be seen in the pictures. If you have ANY questions please contact me directly and I will gladly answer any questions you might have. Bottom line is this is a really nice solid car mechanically that lacks a little cosmetically but is on heck of a lot of fun for the price. Thank you for your interest! John R.
