Vehicle Detail
*NO RESERVE* This 40 might be the rarest and most original '83 in existence. Only approximately 300 were imported in 1983 and only a handful had factory air conditioning and power steering. Even fewer were shipped with vent "wing" windows and this one has all three. I know I'll never find another one like this but it's time to let someone else enjoy this amazing "Holy Grail" '83 40. I looked high and low for the right '83 and believe it or not I found this less than 5 miles from my house. It was basically not too much different than what you see here. The drivers seat had a split so I had it recovered. The passenger seat was perfect but it no longer matched so I had it done as well. The headliner was sagging a little so I replaced it also. I also had the wheels powder-coated. As for the paint (Olive Brown 653), it was 100% original and in great shape but the hood and front fenders were a little faded. I originally decided to leave the "patina" but ultimately had them painted. There are no signs of any body work or rust repair. In fact, the only rust I could find is a small spot on the passenger side rear wheel well (see photo). Scratches and scuffs have been touched up. Mechanically it couldn't be much better. After a full inspection by my mechanic all it needed was a power steering pump seal. It runs and drives like a brand new FJ40. Everything works, even the dome light. The hard top doesn't appear to have ever been taken off. I had the A/C converted to R134A and it blows cold. The tires have less than 1000 miles on them. I believe that it even has the original windshield (see photo of sticker). The dash pad is original and in perfect condition. Please email any questions and good luck bidding!
