Vehicle Detail

I'm picking up a new car next week, and was planning on donating my '91 W124 for a nice tax return. However, there is simply too much life left in it to just give it away. This has been the most reliable car I've ever owned, and as classic Mercedes owners know, the build quality far surpasses the brand new cars of today. This car will go for at least another 100,000 miles, and it shows. The most important thing is that it holds its fluids and doesn't burn oil. The good: This is the most reliable I've ever owned, and if I cad a 2 car garage I wouldn't be letting it go. Previous owner did the head-gasket (which you can see new bolts and seal in the picture) new power steering pump. The work I've done while in my possession includes: new fuel pump, new bearings all around, new steering linkage, new center muffler, new neutral safety switch, 2 new rear tires, regular maintenance. I've been taking it to a local Mercedes-specific mechanic who works on W124s almost daily. Every time I bring this car in he says how much life it has left, and I wish I had a picture of it up on the jack because the under-body is in awesome shape. The body is 95% for any car, but in really great shape for a 20 year old car. I picked this up in 2007 from a car auction in South Carolina (it was a steal!) so it's never seen a flake of snow or a granule of road salt. At the time it had 180,000 miles, and I now have it up to 236,000. Interior is in excellent shape, no rips or tears anywhere. Headliner is 100%, I also have the original luggage cover / mesh divider in the trunk. Has original third row seat also in excellent shape, original full size spare as well. All electronics work - sunroof, windows, blower motor, heat and A/C. The only electronic that doesn't work is the hazard light switch. I have the original floor mats as well, and placed rubber ones over them to preserve their condition. Wood trim in the interior is lightly cracked, but much better than a lot of others I've seen. I also have extra sets of wood trim in slightly better shape for the upper and lower central cluster, and one for the lower part around the gear shift and window switches. I bought these from a member on here, but haven't had the time to install them. I received a high mileage award last summer, and have all the documentation of the service I have done to it. The bad: The only major thing with this car is that the front transaxle started producing some strange effects when the car is brought up to 60-65 mph. I haven't had it looked at, but I think the front transaxle is starting to go. It works great at low speeds, but it makes the car's steering loose when getting up to speed. This only started about a month ago, so I just put the 4MATIC switch under the hood into position 2 (the "Test" position in the manual) and just drive it in 2WD. The car rides perfectly in rear wheel mode only, so essentially this is a regular 300TE that says 4MATIC on the back . That's really it. The only other thing is that the hazard light switch doesn't work, and I've disconnected the radio. Let me know if you have any questions or want a picture of something specific. There is too much life in this car to just give away! NOTE: Location is RICHMOND, VA (23116). I'm not sure why eBay won't let me update my information. On Dec-03-12 at 17:21:34 PST, seller added the following information: Again, eBay won't let me update the location of the vehicle but it is in the RICHMOND, VA area, NOT NANUET, NY. The zip code is 23116. Thanks!
