Vehicle Detail
This is a "real-deal" #24237 1969 Pontiac GTO. Not a "clone" or "tribute"! This is a rust-free Texas car with 100% of its original sheetmetal including floor and trunk pans. NO panel replacement! This classic beauty is as solid as you will find. It also has its original "born with" matching # YS code 350 hp 400 cu. in. Pontiac engine just freshly rebuilt to correct original stock spec. I am a serious Pontiac enthusiast / collector / restorer. I am the third owner of this GTO. I bought it from a close friend who owned it for 21 years. It has always been stored indoors in a temperature controlled garage. It breaks my heart to part with such a classic beauty. It is getting near inpossible to find an all original metal, matching # car of this vintage. However , my wife and I own too many "toys" and are planning to retire in a few years. So it is time to thin the "herd"! I am an absolute "bug" about the overall condition of all my toys ,so if you are looking for an investment quality collectible that you can comfortably gat in and enjoy worry free , here it is! This GTO is equipped as follows; matching # YS code 350 hp 400 (less than 500 miles on recent rebuild). Turbo 400 transmission, correct 3.23 positraction rearend, power steering, power disc brakes, Soft-Ray tinted glass, Black vinyl top, Dark green vinyl bucket seat interior with console, Rally clock (keeps perfect time), Rally II wheels. It was originally painted Verdoro green. Approx. 10 years ago it was professionally color changed to Starlight black PPG urethane. This was a top quality job. The only way you will know that it is a color change is by looking at the trim plate. The paint finish is glass smooth and mirror-like. The body is arrow straight with exceptional panel alignment. All jambs are glossy and appear as factory. All weatherstripping has been replaced. there are three flaws on the exterior. (1) a small dent on the right 1/4 panel above the rear marker light, hardly noticeable (see photo).(2) A small dent from the inside of the center of the hood, (something left on top of the air cleaner ?) I could not get a photo to show this. The paint is not affected or cracked. (3) The rear bumper is straight with near perfect chrome. However there is a chip in the chrome adjacent to the right side bolt hole about the size of a postage stamp. (see photo). The other markings in this photo of the bumper are a reflection of the cracks in my driveway ! There are a very few tiny chips from normal use that have been touched up. Near impossible to see. The front Endura bumper is original and in perfect condition, no shrinking or cracking. The black vinyl top is in superb condition. All trim is excellent, straight and shiny. Doors hang nice and close with ease. Keys work in all locks. The interior is extremely clean and nice. Hardly any sign of wear. One very small crack in console behind shifter. One very tiny spot on passenger seat bottom that appears to be from a cigarette ash. Very small. Everything works properlhy on this car. All lights and indicators, instrument lens is crisp and clear. Clock even keeps good time! An Alpine AM/FM/CD player was professionally installed in the dash with premium speakers under the rear package shelf (not visible). All interior woodgrain has been refreshed new. No unusual odors inside this GTO, very clean and nice! The trunk is immaculate, not redone, original spatter paint over original metal! Correct jack and Rally II spare. New trunk mat. Now the mechanics, Nothing has been overlooked. Everything either new or rebuilt. The matching # YS 400 has less than 500 miles on a complete correct stock rebuild. Block was thermocleaned , measured and honed , original pistons were measured and found to be within spec, making this a standard bore motor! The crank was cleaned and superfinished and measured to all standard. Connecting rods were magnafluxed and resized to standard. Assembled with sealed power premium rings and bearings, Melling oil pump, Viton rear main seal. A blueprint spec 067 cam was installed with new lifters, timing chain and gears. The #62 heads were thermocleaned ,surfaced, hardened exhaust seats installed, all new valves and springs, valve job. Fel-Pro gaskets used to assemble. Motor is filled with Brad-Penn premium high ZDDP (zinc) content oil. Turbo 400 trans was given a fluid and filter change. Has a mild shift kit and a nice firm shift. The rearend was given all new bearings , seals and fluid. Also new; motor and trans mounts, radiator, heater core, belts , hoses, all new correct "tower" clamps, spark plugs, wires , distributor cap, rotor, points and condenser, ignition coil, rebuilt alternator and starter, battery and cables, fuel pump, water pump, Quadra-Jet carb rebuilt to factory spec, all filters. Exhaust is correct 2 1/4" with flowmaster mufflers correct tail pipes and correct chrome tips. This car runs absolutely awesome. Starts with a flick of the key, choke idles up correctly. And does it sound sweet! This is a trip back to 1969! Runs and drives like new. AND LOTS OF PURE PONTIAC GO!! The suspension was freshened some time ago with new springs, gas charged shocks, ball joints, tie-rod ends, etc. Front brake calipers, hoses and pads replaced, rear brake wheel cyls. and shoes replaced. New power steering pump and hoses. Wheels are correct 14"X7" Rally II's professionally refinished, correct centers, trim rings and lug nuts. 225/70R14 raised white letter radials have about 75% of their tread left. Wheel alignment and balance is right on! I am sure I am forgetting something here, but overall this is one sweet ride.It is a pleasure to drive and gets the thumbs up at every intersection. No squeaks, rattles or shakes. It performs STRONG like a 69' Goat should! If you are looking for an investment quality classic GTO that you can comfortably drive and enjoy with no worries ,this is it.
