Divorce is forcing the sale of my 1983 Mercedes 300 Turbo Diesel. I looked for months before finding this car in Georgia. I hesitate to call it rust free because someone out there will find a little tiny bit of rust and have a fit....been there......there are NO rust issues with this car. Jack holes are perfect, the panel under the front bumper is there, not rusted, and not bent up. I was told i bought the car from the original owner. Have a large stack of maintaince paperwork provided by previous owner. It has 223,150 miles at this point and runs beautiful. It is quite peppy for a diesel of this age and idles smooth. Transmission has a funny little shift into high gear and has had since before i bought it about 3 years ago. I drove several cars before this one and they all shifted this way. I am told its the amount of vaccum being delivered to the module. I totally believe this because if you change the amount of vaccum the trans gets you can make it better or worse. I also had a 87 sdl that did the same thing. Always shifts fine under hard acceleration. Just wanted to mention it so there are no problems. List of things done to this car in the past 20,000 miles are... New exhaust from header back, new front calipers, rotors and hoses, new rear shocks, New upper control arms, new lower control arm bushings, new drag link and idler arm, new a/c compressor. The sunroof works as well as the a/c. The power door locks do not due to a broken vaccum line in driver door. The power antenna does not work and cruise is not operational. All the power windows work. This car is not perfect by far. It has several scratches a few dings and some chips. I really believe the car has the original paint. I do not see any overspray or tape marks anywhere in the paint. I do not see another layer of paint under the chips or scratches. It does drive beautifully and is ready to go ANYWHERE.
