Vehicle Detail
This car is being relisted because the previous high bidder could not come up with the money. Please do not bid unless you have finances in place and you are prepared to complete the transaction. This is a NO RESERVE listing. This is my 1993 Mazda RX7 twin-turbo coupe with the 5-speed manual transmission. This is one of the purest sports cars ever made by any manufacturer, and these are becoming very difficult to find in STOCK condition, like this one. This car has not been modified, "upgraded", hacked up or customized in any way. This is a 100% bone-stock car. This is probably one of the nicest-condition ORIGINAL, STOCK RX7s you will find for sale anywhere. This car has had only two private owners since new. I am a specialty auto dealer, and I've known the 2nd owner of this car for about 10 years; he's a personal friend of mine. He bought this car in 1997 with 29,000 miles on it. Included with the car are ALL of his service records and receipts since 1997 (about 60 pages worth) detaling all the maintenance and service work up until the present. I just bought the car from my friend; he was selling the RX7 to purchase a Porsche Boxster. This car has always been serviced and maintained properly. My friend (the 2nd owner) is 50 years old. He never drove the car aggressively, and the car has never been raced, driven hard or abused. In his own words, he drove the car like an old man. This RX7 has the following equipment and options: 1.3L twin-turbocharged rotary engine 5-speed manual transmission leather seats A/C (works great) ABS brakes driver's airbag power windows and locks cruise control I have the original books and manuals with the car as well as several extra keys. This is a totally reliable car. I have taken this car on several weekend trips recently and it performed perfectly. I would trust this car to drive anywhere. You can fly in to Cleveland (CLE) and drive this car home if you like. This car has the original engine which runs great. As mentioned, this car has never been abused or driven hard, and the engine has been durable and long-lasting. Included with the car is approx 60 pages of service records which detail thousands upon thousands of dollars worth of service work. In additon to normal maintenance and oil changes, the work includes brakes, A/C retrofit to R134a and service, new radiator, new hoses and thermostat, new vacuum booster and much more. All 64 of the vacuum lines under the hood were also replaced recently; I don't see the receipt for that work but it was specifically mentioned by my friend as having been done. This car runs great. It is superbly powerful and quick. Both turbos boost strongly and the acceleration is outstanding. As is the handling, steering, and braking- the overall performance nature of this car is evident even in a 2 minute drive. This is a true sports car in every way. There are no warning lights on. This car is a pleasure to drive. It is comfortable, quiet and drives well. The air conditioning works great- it has been serviced and it blows ice-cold. This car has recently had four new tires installed, they are Pirelli Cinturato P7s that cost almost $1000. The original aluminum wheels are in very good shape. Cosmetically, this car looks great. The paint looks great and the car shines beautifully. It looks superb for the age. The panels are straight, clean and the car looks beautiful. There is no body rust- the car was never used in the winter and it has never seen snow or salt. This was my friend's 3-season car- in the winter it was parked. All of the body panels on the car appear to be original with no known replacement panels. The interior of the car is clean and in good condition. The leather is clean and nice, and the carpets and dash panels are clean and in good condition. The leather seats have been cleaned and reconditioned and they look excellent. This is not a perfect car or a show car. This is a 19-year old car; please expect normal issues of wear and tear consistent with the age of the car. This car is sold as-is with no warranty expressed or implied. The rear brakes sometimes pulse a little. The map pocket flap on the driver's door has a broken hinge. The rear suspension is noisy sometimes (not all the time). When the car has been sitting a long time, it blows white smoke for a minute or two until it warms up. After it is warm, it doesn't smoke at all. Nor does it smoke when restarted after having been driven recently. This is pretty typical RX7 rotary motor stuff. These cars were known for paint fade/flaking and this one was no exception- the roof and the left front fender have been repainted due to clearcoat flaking. The front bumper has been repainted due to stone nicks. Otherwise, the rest of the paint on the car is thought to be original. There are some stone nicks on the hood, as well as a few dings on the passenger side door (from the garage), and typical normal minor scratches, nicks, dings, etc, but I think the car looks beautiful for a 1993 vehicle. The power antenna doesn't work- the antenna is up all the time. As mentioned the engine is original. It leaks some oil and uses approx one quart of oil every 1000mi or so. Both are common for this motor. The transmission shifts perfectly through the gears except an occasional grinding going into 5th gear which is very common with RX7s. If you are gentle and shift slowly into 5th you can get it into gear without grinding. Overall this is an outstanding, reliable and dependable example of a limited-production sports car that is becoming more and more difficult to find each year. You can fly into Cleveland (CLE) and drive this car home. You can also have the car shipped- I highly recommend Angels Moving Autos at 530 245 0481 for shipping. On Nov-10-12 at 14:36:14 PST, seller added the following information: I have just had the leather seats professionally cleaned and reconditioned- they did a great job, here are photos showing how it turned out:
