Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a 1949 5 window 1/2 ton Chevrolet 3100 pickup. This truck body is professionally mounted on a 1978 Chevy truck frame with front disc brakes. The frame has been cleaned and sprayed with a fresh coat of chassis black. The body was solid to start with and just had some minor rust repair in the usual places before it was repainted. There are a ton of new parts so I will try and list them all....... Universal Joints, Starter, engine gaskets, aluminum radiator, thermostatic electric fan, 17" wheels and tires, grille, front bumper, door handles, all glass and rubber, mirror, oak bed floor, bed strips, cab weatherstrip, emblems, tailgate, all new exterior lights, battery, headliner, and much more. The engine and trans are from an 87 caprice. 305 engine and turbo 350 trans. engine was rebuilt but has somewhere around 50k miles. It has a Quadrajet 4 barrel carb and stock manifolds. Runs at 65 psi oil pressure and stays cool even at a long standing idle. Trans shifts great. The truck will get up and go! Paint is only a few months old. Its not a perfect paint job by any means, but it is very nice. There are small imperfections here and there but nothing that jumps out at you. Its not going to win best paint any time soon, but will be very competitive in the world of "drivers". The undercab has been undercoated and also painted blue. All of the other underside panels have been sprayed with truck bedliner as a solid undercoat that can always be pressure washed with no issues. The interior is painted blue and silver to match the exterior and under the carpet and behind the seat and gas tank has also been sprayed with bed liner. The bucket seats are power, but are not connected. The manual adjusters work fine if needed. The steering column and emergency brake are from the 78 donor. Both work great. Someone may want to swap out the column for one with tilt, so the brackets are bolt on for that purpose. The truck is definitely more comfortable to drive than with the stock chassis. The stock gauges are not hooked up, but there is a small cluster with the vitals that is operational. All the lights work including blinkers. I can go on for hours about all of the small stuff that was replaced on this truck, but the pics should give most of the answers, and if not, call me at 570-299-1755 to swing by and take a look or ask whatever you need. I am only listing the truck one time. If it does not meet my reserve, I plan to take it to the Turkey Run in Daytona beach over Thanksgiving weekend where I am sure it will bring top dollar. Don't bother asking the reserve unless you have already placed a competitive bid. Any buyer with less than 5 positive feedback must contact me before placing a bid or I will cancel it. I will add underbody pics in a day or two. On Nov-06-12 at 06:59:29 PST, seller added the following information: Added some underbody pics. If anyone needs any other pics, just let me know. Forgot to mention a few things yesterday. Wiper arms, blades, and trim are new. I have the vacuum motor but it works horribly. An electric replacement is available for 149.00 through LMCtrucks.com. I have a clear FL title in my name for the 49 Chevy. VIN on title matches the plate on the truck. On Nov-10-12 at 19:49:49 PST, seller added the following information: Ive had a ton of questions about the driveability of the truck. I got a tag for it and have been driving it around the last few days. Drives great. Everything works as it should and its actually somewhat comfortable. I did have a big guy take it for a spin. Without a tilt column, its a little tight for the bigger guys. Rearend gear is low. Very low. Im not sure what ratio came in a 78 chevy Silverado, but at highway speeds, the rpm is up there. The truck is also very low to the ground. Nothing rubs or scrapes, but an inch or two back up will definitely give the suspension more travel and produce a better ride. I have been driving the truck quite a bit around town and also did a 50 mile trip to Daytona Beach. Im sure there are some small things that any buyer will want to change, but as it sits, the truck is driveable and draws a crowd wherever I take it without any problems or issues. The truck will be in Daytona until it sells here on ebay or at the Turkey Run. If you are on the fence about placing a bid, give me a call and ask any questions you may have. Do Not Bid if you dont have the money to buy. I will not end the auction early for anyone unless you have cash in hand. I will not add a Buy It Now to this auction. Make any reasonable offers before Friday. I doubt I will have this truck until the end of this auction.
