1978 Chrysler New Yorker original survivor, last of the premium flagship 4 door pillarless hardtops. Dry western car purchased out of the original owner's estate and pulled from long term indoor storage. Great collector vehicle you can use and enjoy today, and harken back to the fuselage-era styling cars. I'll try to describe the vehicle to the best of my ability below: Exterior: Original paint, still shines with only a few minor blemishes. Very presentable for cruise night or weekend show. No rust that I can find anywhere - and I know where to look. In this high desert land of prickly pear cactus and sage, we only get 10 inches total moisture annually and no salt is used on the roads. There are a few parking lot scratches and dings, with one small scratch on fender skirt(shown), and a small dent at driver rear(shown) that should be able to be pulled with a paintless dent system. Chrome is good, glass is all good no cosmetic issues to drive and use today. Interior: Appears all original and beautiful. Headliner, carpet,door panels, dash all very nice. One small crack in driver door armrest that could be easily repaired. Fresh non smoker car with no odors, stains, or discoloration. Minor wear on horn pad, and one button missing on rear seat panel - not noticeable. Ready to jump in and use! Mechanical: Original low mile 400-4V and 727 torqueflite Starts, runs, and drives out fine and doesn't heat. Ran perfect when parked many years ago, but fuel soured from long term storage so I had a professional shop pull the gas tank, flush it out,replace fuel sending unit float, and clean Thermoquad carb. It's running better and better the more I drive it, but it does run a bit rough at times, and is down on power. Buyer should plan on complete tuneup - but nothing major, as it has steady turn over, so no valve or compression issues. Absolutely everything works right down to the power antenna and factory 8 track. Recent battery and exhaust and new starter. Tires are older but appear as new, with no cracking or weathercheck. Pricing/Misc: There is a comparable 77 Newport on Ebay currently, right next door in Idaho that has bid to $5900 at this time. I got a good deal on this car and you will too - reserve is under $2900 for quick sale. Hagerty News says the latest trend in collector cars/trucks are "usable" classics like this car that can head to the Steak N Shake with the wife, or load up all your buddies and go to the game or to cruise night.
