BUT, to see ALL of the images, you MUST place your cursor on an image - allow plenty of time for all images to download - and then scroll slowly ALL the way to the bottom. CAUTION: if you use the scroller to the FAR RIGHT of your screen or the "Click to View Image Album" feature...you will NOT see all the images. Thanks! 2,182 TRANSACTIONS WITH HAPPY PEOPLE! As of the date of this listing, we've had 2,182 transactions (both buying and selling) on eBay without a single complaint. One of the keys to our selling success is the use of LARGER and MORE images than you will likely see in ANY other eBay listing...so you can CLEARLY see what you are getting. QUESTIONS? ...after reviewing all the images and reading the description, please call Jim Murphy if you have any questions: 706-429-7924ONE OWNER FOR 47 YEARS! As most experienced collectors will advise, it's best to buy the most original car possible - ideally, from the original owner! When you are the ORIGINAL owner, you remember the day you brought the car home. You remember how hard you worked for it...and how much it cost. You CARE for it, because it holds many cherished memories and because it feels almost "a part of you". ALL of these special characteristics are in abundant evidence with this 1965 TBird. The 82 year old owner has cherished this car...and it shows everywhere. "UNIQUE IN ALL THE WORLD" MODERN CLASSIC: Ford brilliantly created the "Unique In All The World" advertising campaign for it's innovative Thunderbird. NO other car in the world had all of its unique features... like the Swing-Away steering wheel, Sequential Turn-signal Tail-lamps, the clever Coved Rear Seat, the stylish Airplane Cockpit-inspired instrument panel and console, and the swanky Thin-Shell bucket seats. In all, it would be difficult to name a more beautiful and trend-setting 1960s classic than the 1965 Thunderbird. Highly original and Long-time Original Owner examples such as this TBird are coveted and appreciating rapidly. Just as "location, location, location" determines Real Estate value, "condition, condition, condition" determines Classic Car value...and for this reason, we have included extensive photography on every aspect of the car.NADA VALUATION: $16,600 with the following description... "This vehicle would be in excellent condition overall. It could be a completely restored or an extremely well maintained original vehicle showing very minimal wear. The exterior paint, trim, and mechanics are not in need of reconditioning. The interior would be in excellent condition. Note: This value does not represent a "100 Point" or "# 1" vehicle"INVESTMENT POTENTIAL: The best cars from the 1950s are now unaffordable ...and the next decade for huge appreciation is the 1960s. There is no better time to invest than NOW in the best 1960s classics. As the world economy improves (which it always does after a slump) prices on the best collectible investments will rise...and this 1965 Thunderbird will be out of the reach of many who can afford it today. Example: I purchased a nice '65 (California) Thunderbird convertible in 1987 for $4500...today it is a $35,000 - $40,000 automobile...that's almost an 8-fold increase! 5Y83Z140630 VIN DECODING: 5 (1965) Y (Wixom Assembly Plant) 83 (2-door hardtop coupe) Z (390 cid engine) 140630 (Production Sequence Number) DRIVER'S DOOR DATA-PLATE DECODING: 63A (2-Door Hardtop) M (Wimbledon White) 22 (Blue) 02B (February 2, 1965 Production Date) 63 (Memphis, TN District Sales Office) 1 (3.0 Axle Ratio) 4 (3-speed Automatic Transmission)SOLID THROUGHOUT...the TOTAL geographic history of this car is 100% SOUTHERN...originally delivered by FoMoCo to the Memphis, Tennessee sales office. The current owner purchased the car while living in Tennessee on 10-22-1965. Shortly thereafter, he moved to Georgia and obtained the current total. GENERAL: It is EXTREMELY hard to find a 1965 Thunderbird that has not been customized or changed significantly from when it was new by a multitude of unknown owners! Note that NO ONE has installed an 8-track or other "modern" audio system in this car, or changed the interior in any significant way. Everywhere you look...you can see that this car was always cared-for...the trunk is as-new! If you are tired of looking at highly modified, over-restored (i.e. nice, but $$$$), or worn-out classic Thunderbirds...this is the car for you. DRIVETRAIN REPORT: In the early 1970s, this car was loaned to one of the owner's employees who felt quite invigorated to drive his boss' TBird...and he damaged the engine. A near-new (at the time) 351 cid 4BBL Ford Windsor engine was found - along with the rugged corresponding C-6 transmission - and both were installed in the car. This proved to be an excellent and reliable drivetrain. The 351 Windsor is BOTH more fuel efficient and seemingly more powerful than the tame 390 cid engine which originally came with the car. In sum, this drivetrain is robust and economical. Also, the 390 cid engines are very common and easy to locate and re-install if the new owner should wish to do so. Finally, Ford (unlike GM) did NOT "serial" the engines to match the car, so most any date-appropriate 4BBL 390 is correct. DRIVE REPORT: The car drives beautifully and confidently with very good braking. The car is all ready to go...to cruise night...nostalgic rides in the country...or to collect trophies at local shows.OPERATIONS REPORT: The Factory AC has been retrofitted with modern R-134a Refrigerant and blows cold. All the power windows work. All headlamps, running lights, and turn-signals work. Power seat works. Original Factory radio works. Wipers and horn are working. Even the vacuum-operated Power Door Locks work! Minor functions such as lighter, windshield washers, clock, optional flasher, and back-up lamps are not operational but would likely be relatively simple fixes. YOUR NEW CELEBRITY STATUS: Finally, be prepared to feel like a celebrity when you drive this Classic because EVERYBODY seems to notice!PAYMENT DETAILS: Payment is due within 7 days of auction's end via Bank to Bank Wire Transfer. INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS are welcome, but MUST adhere to the Payment Details above and also make all arrangements for pick-up and importation of the vehicle into the Buyer's country. We will garage the car free of charge for a reasonable period of time while transportation is arranged for the car. ABOUT ME: I am an avid car enthusiast. After retiring from 30 years of sales and marketing in a Global 100 company, I began buying and selling classic cars as a collector and for friends and clients. This is a listing for a friend and fellow member of the Vintage Thunderbird Club International. Please note that I have had over 2,180 eBay transactions with 100% Positive Feedback. I have sold classic cars to happy eBay customers in Sweden, Switzerland, Australia, Russia, Canada, Japan, and throughout the United States. FLUKES, FOIBLES, & FINAL DETAILS: Every 47 year-old car will have a few "Flukes & Foibles" and this classic TBird is no exception...here's a list of noteworthy things we noticed (some of which are captioned at right): the car was built with an automatic parking brake release - but the owner installed a (blue lever) manual release, switches under the dash were installed to control the electric auxiliary fan (useful for parades and very hot weather) & windshield washer (inoperative), and because the transmission was changed in the early 1970s - the column-mounted indicator will NOT show the correct gear...though it is easy to "feel" the gear sequence as you place the car in gear. This Thunderbird comes with the original clear Georgia Title (1968 issue...records 10-22-1965 purchase date) which will be provided to the buyer, along with a Bill of Sale. Though every effort has been made to faithfully and completely represent the vehicle, it is sold sold without warranty, expressed or implied...due to age. When a car is almost a half-century old "anything can happen at anytime" and the car is sold with this understanding. The owner states that the odometer reading on the vehicle is accurate.
