Vehicle Detail
For sale is this wonderful 1924 Chevrolet Fire Truck. This truck is equipped with the famous Obenchain-Boyer Chemical Fire apparatus. This was the first of this type of fire fighting equipment. This historic truck is a western Kansas truck that is all original and reus free. This truck has been stored inside for most of its life. This 1924 Chevrolet Fire Truck has been cared for by two private collectors since it was retired from fire service. This truck has only been seen at a couple of western Kansas shows in the last many decades. As well has served as a parade marshal for a few local town events. This is a running driving truck that is un-restored but in absolutly wonderful running condition. This truck comes with all of the orginal fire equipment, including hoses and chemical tanks. the paint is also as well this truck has the builders gold leaf stenciling. "This is a 1 ton chassis with modern equipment including electric lights, starter and a three speed transmission with reverse. This truck has more power than is required for it's ton rating and this truck is speedy under load"...That is what Chevrolet said in 1924 when this grand truck was introduced. In 1897, Obenchain invented the Stationary Chemical Fire Engine and the chemical fire extinguisher. This became the forerunners of the Obenchain-Boyer Fire Apparatus Company that built fire engines and other fire fighting equipment. The company shipped trucks all over the United States and Canada, as well as, exporting their device to China, Australia, South America, and the West Indies. The Obenchain-Boyer company later become the Universal Fire Equipment Company and stayed in business until 1988 when it was sold. This fire truck is wonderful just as it is and would be a jewel in any collection, or it is a good candidate for Restoration because it is so very complete and original. This truck is drivable and dependable just the way it is. Please email any questions. Thank You!
