Vehicle Detail
The good: - Car passed California Emissions (Smog) recently. The test should be good for another year, but I cannot guarantee the DMV will see it that way. Registration is due in December.- Car drives OK. I drive it about once a week.- Tires are relatively new. It shouldn't need tires for a couple of years, depending on how it is driven.- No obvious rust.- Starts right up when cold. Takes a few seconds when warm. I think it has a leaky injector.- Power windows work.- Clutch works. I have never had a problem with it.- Brakes work fine. I made sure they lock up to check for ABS - it does not have ABS. Don't worry, I did not flat spot the tires.- E-brake works.- Headlights work fine.- CD player works. Windshield has been replaced with a non-antenna one, so radio does not work.- Doors and locks both work, and I have 2 keys, as well as the key for the alarm (I have no idea if this works or not - I have never used it)- Has the original owner's manual. The bad: - There is a dent in the nose. I have a spare panel, but it needs a bit of work as well. I can throw this in if you like.- It could probably use a paint job. There is a sizable scratch on the hood that should be repaired if you don't want to paint the whole car. Also, the car was vandalized a couple of months ago. The worst part was the hood, which they painted with "See Yah." I removed most of the damage with rubbing compound, but if you are looking closely, you can still see it. This incident also left some speckles on some of the rubber bits (for example the spoiler). I took pictures of the hood, so you can see for yourself.- It is a salvage title. The prior owner said this was due to damage on the driver's side rear fender. The paint there is starting to crack. I tried to take a photo of this, but the cracks are hard to see.- Leaks oil. I have been adding oil for the five years I have owned it. It leaks, but it keeps going.- Shifter is sloppy. However, it changes gears easily, and I seldom have problems finding the proper gear.- AC does not work.- Cruise control is not working.- Odometer doesn't work. It had 289,000 miles on it when I bought it. I have probably put 20-30,000 more on it.- Probably needs new dampers/shocks. They seem squishy to me, but I have been driving a stiffly sprung M3 so maybe it is just what is familiar.- Dash is cracked. This is common on this age of vehicle and new covers are about $140, but I don't have time to do the work.- Sunroof does not work.- Glovebox needs some work. If you are not careful it will open too far and requires a screwdriver to get it closed. However, it does still lock. General: - The seats are in relatively good condition. The seam is coming apart on the driver's side bolster. This should be visible in the picture.- The hatch needs adjusting. Once closed, it stays closed, but I am always hesitant to open it.- I listed as gray exterior, but it has a tinge of purple in it. It is not purple, but the color is hard to describe. Check the photos. Overall, the car needs some work, but I believe it would be a good car to fix up. It is probably worth more if you were to part it out, but I hope that someone would prefer to keep this car on the road. I just don't have time to work on it. Please ask questions. I have had the car for five years, so I probably know more about it than I can remember to put in this listing. I am happy to arrange for a test drive if you would like one. I am happy to assist with shipping, but you must make the arrangements and pay for it.
