Vehicle Detail

UPDATE: Someone (a whole lot smarter than me) came to look at the car and is almost positive that the problem with the engine is not the head gaskets but the intake manifold gasket. I hope this helps. Up for auction is a 1979 Triumph TR7 Convertible with a V6 engine swap. Unlike the original four banger, the V6 give the TR7 lots of power. Press the gas pedal and you are pushed back into your seat. This was my fun project car. Unfortunately, I no longer have the time or the energy to devote to my little British sports car. Here is the backstory. This car was originally purchased in Southern California. And it was originally brown. The original buyer converted the TR7 to a V6 using a kit from Johns Cars (johnscars.com). Check out their web site to learn more about the kit and the new found power. About 8 years ago the original buyer, who had moved to North Carolina, sold it to a gentleman in Virginia. I got this car about 3 years ago and it was my weekend driver for two of those years. It has been a great little car for me. I added a roll bar and also swapped out the original seats for Pontiac Fiero seats with headrest speakers. I bought seat covers from Mr. Mikes (mrmikes.com) and added Corbeau retractable four-point racing harnesses. I also added a Kenwood KDC-HD942U HD radio with USB connector and a set of Infinity speakers. There are four 4" speakers in the seats and two piece crossovers in the door and dash. The tires are Prime Well 185/70R13 with less than 100 miles on them. I had never heard of Prime Well either but I am told not a lot of companies make 13" tires any more. The wheels are original with the original center covers and the original chrome trim rings. The top is in great condition, no tears, and no holes. The odometer reads 35,584. I doubt if this is accurate. I only put about 1,200 miles on it myself. It has a clear title and is currently insured and tagged. As I mentioned, I am the third owner. I was told the car had been garage kept by both the first and second owner and has been in a garage for most of my ownership. Body is solid with no rust. It has a Camaro T5 five speed manual transmission. The current engine is the second V6 and it was installed around 2008. It came from a 1979 Buick Regal. Brakes, cooling system and electrics are all original. Custom dual exhaust. This sounds like the perfect car doesn't it? Now for the bad news. It doesn't go. The engine will start but it blows white smoke. Also, as with any car that is more than 30 years old, there are a few dings and scratches. I have all sorts of extra parts (who doesn't when they have one of these). I am happy to take any additional pictures that you may want. I will also answer any questions you have. I think this would be a pretty easy project for someone with moderate skills. I only say that because I have moderate skills. I just don’t have the time or the energy to work on it. Thanks for the interest! UPDATE!! The car does run and will move under its own power. Because of the coolant mixed in with the fuel it does foul the plugs. Brakes and suspension are good (as good as they can be for 1979). I also found the original reciept for when the car was purchased in California. I put a picture up. Who knows, maybe it will start a bidding war. Finally, the electric and instrumentation are original and are Lucas (Prince of Darkness).
