Here is a 2000 SUBARU LEGACY GT AWD with a 2001 engine in it. The old motor had a bad water pump and upon trying to change it ,wound up with bent valves (A very expensive mistake). So long story short it was easier and less expensive to just put a diffrent motor in it from a salvage yard. The motor only had 70,567 miles on it and was droped in with the odometer reading 101,892 so the new engine has a little over a 100,000 on it now. So now for the bad news,if you know about these cars they are known for faulty head gaskets. I was told that they go at around 100,000 to 150,000 miles. This car ran great untill a head gasket issue popped up. I was told its a head gasket because there is some white steam coming out of the exhaust tail pipe and the temperature gauge went up. So with that being said this car needs a head gasket and im not willing to spend any more money on it to repair it. If your handy and can do this job youself then you will save a ton of money and have a good reliable car that handles very well. I recently had a brand new exahaust system put on from the catalitic converter back,also brand new drilled rotors and brake pads in the front and brand new pads installed on the rear,and a brand new rear axle bearing installed (right rear). The tires are fair but i would recomend new ones be installed,the right front tire has a little bubble on its side wall. My mechanic also said its going to need a new tie rod,passenger side i believe. The sunroof does not leak but dose need a new electric motor installed to open it because the original one burnt out. All the lights work as they should and the AC blows cold. Since the head gasket issue the heat does not blow hot. There is a CHECK engine light on as well. The body on this car is decent and has very little rust,the biggest rust is a hole in the lower rear passenger door jam (see pictures) and above the right rear tire, the paint on the bumpers are chipped from parking and there is a slight dent on the front drivers side fender,there are scuff marks and chips on the car but nothing major. The floors are solid,the only rust on the car is what you see in the pictures. The drivers side window switch also needs to be replaced,it works but you have to put a little extra pressure on the switch to put the window up. Since the head gasket blew the other day this car has not and will not be driven to keep from doing any other damage. I belive I have covered everything about this car and have been straight foward and honest about all its flaws. The parts alone on this car are worth the asking price,im just looking to move on and buy something newer. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions you my have about this car.
