1985 was the last year Mercedes made the 123 series 2 door coupe . They were built from 1978 until 1985 and only since 1982 did they have the turbo with the 3 liter 5 cylinder engine . This engine already had a reputation for being extremely reliable and very economical . Now with the introduction of the turbo charger in 1982 and the upgraded horse-power they also had plenty of power . These cars are truly fun to drive and remind you of a time , when cars were built to last a lifetime and not just until the next model comes along .  This car feels very solid in town and on the freeway . The doors close like a safe and you can really feel you are sitting in a car with high quality .  The 300CD started it's life in 1985 when it was purchased by its original owner in Los Angeles . He had it serviced the first few years at Mercedes/ Hollywood on Sunset blvd until they closed down . After that he always had it maintained at independent Mercedes places . He retired in 2006 and moved to Arizona . The last few years he just did not get to drive the car enough anymore and that is why it is here on Ebay . This car is 27 years old and only has 191 k miles on it . This is nothing for this kind of car since they are known to go for 500k-700k miles without any mayor engine work .  The Mercedes was finished in dark grey ( charcoal grey ) with black interior . The dark color with the very nice chrome make for a very elegant color combination and i do get a lot of compliments on it , when i drive it . The body is in very nice condition all around without any dents . The chrome still shines and the interior is very clean as well . The drive seat has a couple of small crack on the bottom portion of the seat . The wood pieces inside still look great as well . All the windows are working the way they should . Even the rear windows are going all the way down showing the car as a true pillar-less coupe . The switches for the windows are new. The original rims are still in wonderful condition and the Goodyear tires have less than 2k miles on them . It is really a beautiful 27 year old car , but the best thing about it is the way it drives . It has been regularly serviced and it shows . It always starts up right away , has plenty of power in town and on the freeway . It can cruise for hours at 90mph and is still very easy on the gas doing so . All the gauges and instruments are working well . All the door locks and even the original radio are working the way they should . The AC is blowing cold, all the windows and the sunroof function properly . A couple of years ago the original owner had a Bio Diesel conversion installed . It is a single tank conversion and you have the option to drive this car on Bio diesel , vegetable oil or even free waste oil from restaurants . He actually did only drive it on regular diesel from the pump , but the option is there .
