2004 CHEVY 1500 CUMMINS 4BT PICKUP (please read the following) Up for grabs we have a very cool vehicle here! Lets start off by saying I was not the builder and have only owned this about 4 months but I will list as much info on it I know! This truck started off with the 4.3 v6 with manual tranny, its basically a base worktruck model...which is what I purchased it for! Ive been wanting to do a 4bt swap for some time now and never got around to do it. I found this for sale locally and after a test drive didnt hesitate on buying it! My main reasons for wanting this truck were simple...great fuel milage, reliability, and longevity which comes in handy with the courier and delivery work I was doing. Since then I have changed jobs and went back to paint and bodywork. The truck just sits in the driveway now and never gets used! I would probably keep it if I couldnt use the money (new baby) so Ive decided to put it on here and see what it brings. The motor came out of I believe a frontwheel drive dually Grunman delivery truck which had been wrecked. The former owner showed me the Grunman shell and verified the mileage which was around 80k. The swap itself only has about 8k miles, runs great and I would not hesitate to drive it cross country! It drives straight, brakes good and handles as it should...like it came from the dealer, almost like a new truck! The motor itself has a few upgrades..the injector timming anvanced, fuel turned up a bit, 3000 govern spring, hx35 turbo, P.O.D. injectors, Duramax intercooler, and 4'' exhaust no muffler. The truck has good power (I did pull a trailer with car and it did fine) and plenty of torque! Some other things worth noting are the a/c and alternator are chevy, stock radiator. The a/c, alt., crank, and (5) speed sensors are all chevy. It has a 90' model chevy slave cylinder and electric lift pump from a 95' 6.5 diesel. The power steering pump is for a Cummins and the belts are NAPA #25060410 &25060569. The tranny is a NV4500 5 speed with the "week links" "beefed up" it shifts great however 1st is a granny gear. It has 342 gears which he said could be switched for even better mpg's? Also truck has Advanced Auto Wagner Thermo Quiet pads with lifetime war. The truck gets great mpg's Ive never tried to figure it out but the former owner said it gets 35mpg @ 70mph @2000 rpm and around 22-25 around town. Like I said I never tried to break it down but it does get better mpgs than my 06' jetta!...Now the only things worth mentioning on the downside are the service brake light is on the dash because he switched them to hydroboost to handle the extra weight and it trips the sensor, and the pulley started squeeking lately since the weather has been geting cold and wet. I dont think its a belt because they are new and it seems like its coming from the tensioner pulley (sounds like crickets chirping) sometimes louder than other times and sometimes not it all...easy fix though..I think theres still an auction here on ebay with all the pulleys f.y.i. He did mention to keep the boost under 25lbs because of no wastegate which is easy to do, I rarely get to 15 psi and thats getting on the highway, going up hills etc. If you are wanting to make more power for "hot rodding'' or pulling heavy loads up hills then he recommended APR headstuds to make it bulletproof. The rebuid title is no big deal, a tree fell on the bed and was replaced a while back! Also the motor itself has about 87k and the truck has 77k! For the money you wont be able to find a low milage diesel in this good of shape that gets this kind of mileage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I almost forgot to mention all the gauges work as they should from the factory...A/C is hooked up and is cooold! Heat is hot! Truck also has boost gauge and pyrometer! The body has zero rust along with the frame, the paint is in good condition and looks great from 10ft. There are some dings and light scratches here and there especially on bed rails (see pics)....this is not a show truck, its a work truck! The interior is in great shape with the ''rubber'' floor and kenwood cd player with ipod hookup! The truck starts on a dime everytime even when it sits for a couple of weeks! The former owner said it starts in cold weather with no problem however it hasnt been cold enough since ive owned it to vouch for that! The truck does have a 2500hd hood/front clip on it to house the intercooler WINNING BIDDER WONT BE DISAPOINTED!!!
