Vehicle Detail
I purchased this car about 4 years ago from a mercedes benz wagon fanatic; he had 2 almost identical wagons. Wagon people are a distinct group of their own, they KNOW wagons, and they know that these run an average of 300,00 miles plus before a rebuild is necessary, if well cared for. I paid $5700 for this one, the a/c had just been replaced with the new r134 set-up when I got it. I have spared no expense over the 4 years I have had it, maintaining it, replacing necessary parts, upgrading and replacing the little items that go bad after 20 plus years, tune ups, etc. I RECENTLY just spent almost $1000 on a complete tune up, including; battery, plugs, rotor tower, rotor cap, injectors cleaned and/or replaced as needed, and a fuel pump. (they have 2, front and rear). The one that went bad was an original o.e.m. pump, (not bad for for a car of this vintage). The paint and interior are all original and in VERY nice condition. NO RUST at all on this vehicle. It had 124,000 miles on it when I got it, I have put approximately 11,000 miles a year on it over 4 years, has only been used around town and commuting back and forth to work. STUFF THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE.... The front brake pads need replacement, the a/c evaporator needs to be replaced, and the cruise control does not function.(it has never worked since I got the car.) Tires are good, almost new fronts, the backs are o.k. The car gets about 19-20 m.p.g. highway. It is as solid as a ROCK on the highway, and will run 100 plus m.p.h. with 2 fingers on the steering wheel. This is a great vehicle that would be a fantastic daily driver while you finish restoring it. Replacing the evaporator quotes I got were between 1500-2000 (the dash has to come out). I would also do a top end on the motor down the road, new head gasket, valve guides and seals, check the timing chain, and redeck the head, (about 2k). with these items done, another 300,00 miles await you. Try to get that with ANY new car today, they won't even BE HERE 20 years from now. WRAP UP....... I have parked the car, (I inherited an s.u.v. from my wife who just bought a new car), and start it up about once a week, ( just to keep the Ethanol from eating up the rubber parts ) and the battery charged. If you use the "BUY IT NOW OPTION", I will have my mechanic do the front brake pads. (about $175) You can fly down to South Florida and drive it ANYWHERE in the U.S. NO PROBLEM . If you have any questions, Please Ask. I am not going to post a lot of pictures, the headliner, dash, and seats are ALL mint, they have ALWAYS been covered and are like new. thanks and good luck . On Nov-02-12 at 04:24:15 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to mention that I bought a set of front rotors for this car and they were packed away in my storage unit. I located them yesterday and they will go with the vehicle, when you replace the front pads, use the new rotors, and use QUALITY PADS; (don't cheap out and use the basic generic pads.) If possible, tell your mechanic you want CERAMIC pads, they last twice as long and don't squeal or squeek.
