Vehicle Detail

AN amazing roadster time capsule. This fun little car had the engine rebuilt, the 1300cc was bored out to 1500cc's. The main bearings were up graded and new valves and seats were installed for unleaded gas, and a new clutch was installed. All in 1978!! The owners started to have children and it was rarely driven. By 1983 they stopped driveing it altogether. The car was last tagged in 1993, (even though the car was not used) they continued to register it for another decade. I have documents and reciepts that date back to 1978 which bare all this out. In fact the car still sports tags which expired in 1995. The last owner bought the car from the original owners a couple of years ago. He started to bring this little jewel back to life by rebuilding the front suspention, refurbishing the wheels and installing mechelin tires. He also rebuilt the brakes with all new wheel cylinders. He up graded the cooling system with a dual core (the car came with a single core) radiator, and a new heater control valve, with new hoses and a fan belt. He then addressed the fuel system with a new gas tank and two fuel filters. At this point he couldn't get the engine to run. So, he gave up and moved on to another project, a '68 Barracuda. He sold it to me to get the space for that project. Nearly every system on this car is refurbished, has eleven thousand (11K) miles on it or it's brand new. The engine runs sweet, the clutch and gear box could not be more perfect. The interior was and is in great condition. The carpet was faded and a little worn so I replaced it. I have included a picture taken during the process so you can see how great the condition of the floor pan is.The radio was an AM unit and was missing it's knobs. After a long search I located and aquired a NOS (new old stock) period correct AM/FM Audiovox 1971 unit. Though the origanal (AM) speaker is still mounted above the right kick panel, I provided period correct Jensen hard case three way speakers which are placed on the rear package tray. The supple, great condition original top comes with the very nice original boot cover. The tonnue cover is new. I have installed a brand new clutch cylinder, clutch slave, and a new master brake cylinder. This numbers matching car has just 76k miles on the clock. It's 40 years young and is a delight to drive. As one can imagine, the electrics in a British car not used in thirty years can be a bit dodegy. That said, I opted to have the professionals at British Motor Works (renowned classic British car restoration experts) in North Plains, Oregon sort all that out to ensure top quality. It took them a month, contacts and switches were refurbished and tested. Everything is still original (with exception of a new brake switch) right down to the original Lucas headlamps, and works perfectly. There work included a fresh tune up as well. The work took them a month and cost $700 dollars. This garage queen is a rust free numbers matching car and has always been an Oregon car. It drives like a 10K mile car. The wind screen and it's seal are near perfect with no cracks or wiper rash. The body has minor scuffs, chips and dings associated with sitting in the Lake Oswego garage of a busy family for thirty years, but still looks very presentable. This car draws attention where ever it goes and complements constantly. Email if you would like to see additional pictures or you would like me to call you. Thanks. A Pay PAL deposit of $500. dollars is required by the winning bidder. The payment balance to be arranged in seven days or less. POST SCRIPT: The car is for sale locally. I reserve the right to cancel the ad should the car be sold by other means.
