Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on my 2003 Mercedes Benz E55 AMG. This has been an amazing car, but I now have a company car for a daily driver and want to make room in the garage for a new project. I’m the second owner, purchased it from a dealer in NC while still under factory warranty. It has lived in a garage either at home or at work since and has received undue attention according to my wife. This of course is the 469 horsepower autobahn cruiser that when produced was the fastest luxury sedan. It’s still one of the fastest, which is partly why it has such a following even today. It’s one of the few hot rods that you can bring home to your wife and she won’t roll her eyes about because it’s all style, doesn’t look like a toy, gets over 20 miles to the gallon and is very reasonably priced these days. You, however will know what this car is all about when you hit the accelerator – this car is a missile. This E55 in particular is a gem. It’s in phenomenal condition and has lived a blessed life. I don’t think it’s ever had even a parking lot door ding, granted I usually parked it as far away from other cars as possible. As far as I can tell, every panel is original paint, straight and true. Plus, the finish is glossy. I use Chemical Brothers products on my cars and this car really pops – especially the metallic pearl black paint. I think this is the best color Mercedes makes. There is one blemish – a crack on the front air dam at the bottom – probably from hitting a parking stop (pictured). It was there when I bought the car, and it never bothered me enough to fix it. There are few surface scratches under the driver door handle and on the bottom of the rear driver side bumper (pictured) but not noticeable from three feet away. There are the usual stone chips on the front bumper that are normal for its miles but not noticeable unless close up. Also, I removed the side and back emblems – I prefer the clean look and don’t want to attract attention from the police. As for maintenance, the car’s received all scheduled service – mainly by me in my home shop including religious filter and oil changes using only Mercedes filters and recommended Mobile 1 zero weight OW40 synthetic at least every 4,000 miles. I even changed fluids not recommended by Mercedes like the transmission and coolant at intervals greater than recommended. The brakes were done around 10,000 miles ago – new rotors and pads up front and have at least 50% left on the pads. The rear pads still look like new. The AMG calipers are regularly cleaned and still look like new. The interior is immaculate. The perforated heated and cooled dynamic leather seats are in excellent condition and everything inside works as it should. Although this car is mostly stock, I’ve made a few customizations that I think set it apart from the pack and still retain its OEM quality. The first and most obvious are the 19” factory Mercedes double-5 spoke limited edition staggered SL wheels that set me back a few bucks. They’re in near perfect condition and wrapped in Continental Extreme DWS tires. The fronts are new with less than 500 miles on them. The rears have about 12,000 miles on them but still have 50% tread left and ride great. I love these tires – they’re not cheap considering the monster 285/30/ZR19 rears, but of all the tires I’ve used, these are by far the best all-around in terms of grip, all weather capability, quiet, and fairly long lasting compared to other low profile tires. You know when you get something right, and I know I got it right with these wheels. The pictures don’t do them justice. This car is amazing with them. These wheels make the new Audi wheels look cheap, and they fit perfectly with no rubbing, no spacers and they don’t stick out or look like they don’t belong on this car. They just look amazing. Every time I park or drive by a reflection, I can’t stop looking at them. Also, the steering wheel is a one of a kind custom I had made. It is the coolest steering wheel – birds eye wood and perforated leather that perfectly matches the interior. This steering wheel is superb quality, very beefy, and the best part is I had the big Aluminum paddle shifters from the new AMG’s fitted to this one. The stock paddle buttons are way too tiny, and these paddles not only look great but work great too. There are a few other additions including a Renntech lowering module that allows you to change the ride height from stock to slammed and everywhere in between giving the car that perfect stance any time. I adjusted it where I like it and have not messed with it since. Plus, with the flip of a switch, it’s bypassed and the dealer can’t detect it. With the air ride suspension, even when it’s lowered, it still rides perfectly. The suspension module is mounted inside the passenger front bolster storage where the first aid kit normally goes so it is easy to get to. I moved the first aid kit to the driver seat. I also had concentric alignment bolts installed to allow greater camber adjustments so the alignment is more accurate. Other additions include an IPod connection to play music through the sound system. It also has a Bluetooth puck so you can play your Bluetooth phone music and navigation app through the sound system as well. The windows have been tinted with legal tint that is in great shape. It has a rear Renntech spoiler, and I also painted the surge tanks red with ceramic two part epoxy paint to give the car some deserved bling under the hood. I have advertised this car locally in Charlotte NC, and I do reserve the right to pull the auction. Also, about a month ago, I tried the panoramic sunroof roof, and the motor stopped working. I received a quote to install a new motor - $1,100 from my local MBZ guy. I don’t intend to repair it as I never use the sunroof and it’s closed tight, but please factor that into your price. If you are lucky enough to get this car, it will come with a binder of all thereceipts, manuals, title, keys, etc. If you have any questions, please email me through ebay and I’ll respond quickly. Good luck!
