1996 Chevrolet Astro Van AWD What is WRONG with it? Make no mistake, this van is cosmetically flawed - it has small dents, scratches and rust on the exterior; wear and tear on the interior. The air conditioning compressor does not function (although the heat and vent settings work just fine). The passenger side window does not roll down. The two right side wheels loose about two pounds of air pressure a week. Even though it is holding up well, it is an old van that has been serving us well. It has only been in one minor accident years ago when it was rear-ended by another vehicle. The rear bumper cover was damaged and subsequently replaced. No damage has occurred to this vehicle that affect its safety or longevity. What is RIGHT with it? It runs! It has always proven to be very dependable and seems to have plenty of service life left. Need reliable transportation? This is it. The tires and brakes have about 1,000 miles on them. It doesn't burn any oil and the engine, transmission, drivetrain, steering and suspension are all fully functional systems. Snow? No problem with the all wheel drive. We are the original owners and know the service record. The oil has been changed every 3,000 miles since it was new. Make it a back-up vehicle when you don't want to drive your nicer one, make it a utility truck, a pet hauler or a errand runner. Or buy it for parts to support another Astro.
