Vehicle Detail

1988 Chevrolet Caprice 9C1, police package, 80 K miles, clean CarfaxStock and appears to be original. Registered, insured, and on the road. Title in my name. NEW tiresNEW batteryNEW headlinerNEW front shocks (Monroe Severe Service) MECHANICAL350 (5.7L), Quadarjet, Completely stock and appears original as far as I can tell. Starts easily and runs well, smooth and torquey, no unusual noises. Stock exhaust, nice and quiet. Slight hesitation under very light throttle after it's warmed up. Appears to be EGR related per Google search. Totally smooth under every other condition. I should chase it down, but I'm ready to move on.Transmission shifts firmly and functions properly in all ranges. Fluid looks fine. Ride is firm and controlled. Steering and suspension are tight. Car stops straight and with no vibration. Front brake pads look nearly new, rear shoes have about half left. A/C system is complete but discharged (there's probably a leak somewhere), so there is no cold air. Compressor works properly when 12V is applied directly, but, to be clear, there is no cold air. EXTERIOROriginal gray paint. Numerous small scratches and dings, and a couple of bigger ones on left rear door and quarter panels (see photos). Part of the rear filler panel is missing (see photo). Front clip is completely straight / clean. Panel gaps all look good, and as stated, the paint appears 100% original, so it was never hit hard. Bumpers are level and square. Paint still shines in some spots, and it could be rubbed out and improved some more, but I've lost interest. Small spot of surface rust on roof (see photo). Different color / style mirror on passenger side. Small crack in far upper passenger corner of windshield. All the lights work (except the red grill lights, as noted above). INTERIORVery nice. New headliner, which turned out great. Seats are in very good condition, and very comfortable (see photos). Dash is excellent, with one very small crack (about 1" long) that didn't show up in the photo. Door panels are complete, firmly attached, and with no tears, though some of the chrome shows some aging. Rubber floor mat is in good condition. Instrument panel is complete. Original radio works (including all speakers). All the windows work, thought they're a bit slow. Locks work fine. Wipers work on all speeds. Fan works on all speeds with no inappropriate noises. Air comes out where it's supposed to when you move the controls. A couple of the vents are loose and won't stay where you put them. Turn signals and light switches work just like they're supposed to. Steering wheel has a lot of wear, inconsistent with the rest of the car. It's puzzling. Passenger-side mirror control doesn't work. POLICE STUFF It's a real 9C1, see photo of equipment sticker. Has all the 9C1 stuff: 350/4bbl ('88 was the last year for the Q-jet), green hoses, trans cooler, oil cooler, 5x5 bolt pattern, big brakes, big anti-roll bars, 120 mph speedometer, low gear lockout, extra interior overhead light, etc. Also has red lights in grill (wires cut before I bought it, but the lights are still there), rear wig-wag lights (functional), siren (or loudspeaker, I'm not sure), appropriate switches under dash, and radio mounts on the trans tunnel EXTRA PARTSThe following extra parts are included with the car:- Hypertech Stage 3 chip. The Stage 3 chips are no longer available.- Extra ECM. Didn't need it, nor did I suspect that I did, but it was cheap. - Oil cooler adapter. Removed from this car. The factory oil cooler is in place, and was functioning properly, but the lines are rusty. If you want to use the car for towing or high speed chases, consider an aftermarket oil cooler. - Dual exhaust transmission cross-member from a 94-96 B-body. - NOS hood ornament, new-in-GM box. Car is available for inspection by appointment in ZIP 21136, Reisterstown, MD. Car is sold as is, where is. I will not ship or deliver, but I will work with your shipper. I have plenty of space to accommodate trailers, rollbacks, etc. Deposit by Pay Pal only, within 24 hours of the end of the auction. Final payment within 7 days by cash in person or Pay Pal. No other choices. Deposit AND final payment must be clearly in my account or in my hands before I release the car.
