Street legal dual sport, runs great, loads of power. I purchased this bike recently for my own use, the previous owner used it for trail riding in So. Calif. so did not register it. I transferred it in my name and even received a Calif. Plate for it, rode if for a couple of weeks only to receive a letter from the Calif. DMV (Dept. of Motor Vehicles) saying it is not legal in Calif. nor will it ever be and I need to turn in my plates which I have done, and put the Utah plate back on that it came with. In Calif. apparently unknown to me a vehicle with less that 7,500 miles is considered a new vehicle as far as emissions are concerned. I am not pleased with having to sell this bike but have no other choice, before I purchased it I called the DMV with the VIN and they said no problem registering it, the local DMV had no problem, it took over a month after I paid my transfer and registration money before the DMV Technical Compliance Section figured out this is a 49 State Vehicle and order me to turn in my plates. They have returned all my documents such as Utah title that was transferred to the person I purchased it from as well as the documents from this person to myself. Below is a quote from one of the DMV letters to me about this motorcycle: "The vehicle may not be driven, resold, leased, rented, or transferred in California and must be refused from the state, department records have been marked to indicate that registration was refused." and: "You cannot sell, deliver, rent lease, transfer, or convey the vehicle to another Calif. resident or entity for use in this state." "You cannot register the vehicle in Calif at a later date regardless of mileage" So basically bike is available to NON California Residents ONLY, if you are picking up in person I will demonstrate the bike for you and it need to go into your truck or van and you will be signing a bill of sale from me to you that will indicate you understand you cannot now or ever register this motorcycle in California for street or dirt operation Now on to the bike: I purchased this bike to ride, it is not perfect looking but it runs great, miles are low and bike starts right up, this is a powerful yet smooth bike and a pleasure to ride, all stock. 1986 year model was the only year with the gold anodized rims, forks and swing arm. The previous owner put about 500 miles on it in the three or four years he owned it. When I purchased it I put an OEM quality seat cover on it, new mirrors, battery and spark plug. I only had the chance to put about 25 miles on this bike before the DMV shut me down. The turn signals, brake light, running lights, headlight all work fine although I think the low beam portion of the lamp is out, the horn works too and the factory tool kit is included. A few scrapes on the plastic and the sides of the engine and the tank has some dents on it (mostly right side) the brakes work fine, the rear tire is in fair to good, the front is dry and somewhat cracked and should be replaced. If you are not familiar with this bike please do some google searches on it as this is a pretty much bullet proof and powerful bike that is very reliable. Bike can be seen in person in Long Beach, Calif. and if paid for I can store for up to ten days after the auction. Please look carefully at all the photos and ask questions prior to bidding. I the last two photos I show a photo of the bike with the Utah plate in place which is how you will receive it, the photo of bike with the Calif. plates if for reference and they are not included as I have turned them in to the DMV.
