Vehicle Detail
Here's a real sweet Studebaker Champion coupe. Started about 5 years ago with a solid Eastern Oregon car, rebuilt the original flathead 6 with Cathcart goodies including finned aluminum head, stainless valves, HP cam, dual carb intake, headers, electronic ignition etc., plus Frantz oil filter, cruise control and custom finned aluminum air filter cover. Converted to 12 volt negative ground, then added a BW 5-speed OD transmission, Hawk finned brakes, SW gauges and Blaupunkt stereo. New carpet and re-upholstered original interior. Re-chromed bumpers and blackout trim. Front grill is the cleaner '53 style as are the rare early '53 tri-stars on the hood and trunk. Body was in good original condition, no evidence of any significant misshaps or rust damage, but it was further straightened, cleaned up and painted with a basecoat/clearcoat urethane. Rides on Diamondback Classic radial wide whites mounted on 15" custom offset powder coated steel wheels. This was built as a practical and fun daily driver rather than a show car, but it turns heads wherever we go (especially when it starts to sing through the 2 1/2" pipe and Magnaflow muffler) and does pretty well at the occasion car show too. If you want a beautiful Studebaker coupe you can jump in and drive right now, here's your car. If you're planning to build that ultimate Studebaker custom, you would hard pressed to find a better start. I've had a lot of fun with this car over the last 5 years, but I need to make room for the next project, so now's your chance to own an example of one of the most beautiful American cars ever made. Good luck.
