This is a NO RESERVE listing. This 1985 Volkswagen Jetta was just traded by the original owners to our local VW dealer, with whom I have a relationship. I'm a specialty auto dealer and I got a call for this car as soon as it was traded. I even have a photo (taken by the salesman) with this car and their brand-new VW in front of the dealership. This 1985 Jetta is one of the nicest Mark II Jettas I have ever seen. Most of these cars no longer exist. The ones that do are rusted and rotted away to nothing. This car is solid, clean and in superb original condition. The owners were snowbirds- they left for Florida every winter and this car stayed in the garage. Consequently it has never been exposed to salt or snow, and that is why it remains in such pristine condition. This Jetta has the following equipment and options:1.8L fuel-injected 4-cylinder engineautomatic transmisson (rare!)cruise control (works!)air conditioning (does not blow cold)Alpine AM/FM cassette radio This is a superb original example of the classic Jetta. This car has been kept in excellent mechanical condition and it is reliable and dependable. You could fly in and drive this car home. I see no reason this car could not make a long trip home anywhere. This is as rust-free a Mark II Jetta as you will find anywhere. I can't quite say 100% rust-FREE, because none of them are. But this is as close as you'll ever find. The door jambs, door panels, body panels, DOOR HANDLES and all sheet metal are totally clean and solid. The body and paint appear to be all-original, with no accidents. The paint has held up remarkably well for being 26 years old. The interior is superb. Actually it is hard to believe how nice it is for the age. The interior and upholstery are clean and in truly superb condition- please see the photos. This car starts, runs and drives great. The engine is powerful and runs great. The transmission shifts perfectly. The brakes, steering and suspension work well. The car doesn't need any known mechanical work. This car drives great- I would trust this car to drive anywhere with no worries. This car is a 1985, and certainly not brand new. Please expect normal issues of wear and tear consistent with the age of the car. Specifically, the paint on the driver's door and driver's side front fender are somewhat faded and not as nice as the rest of the car. The fender has many small paint nicks. There is a small ding on the leading edge of the hood, and another small ding on the driver's front fender. There are various small nicks, dings, dents, imperfections, brush-touched tiny rust spots, scratches, scuffs and other marks and imperfections here and there throughout the exterior. All of these are minor, but I don't want to indicate that this is a perfect show car or anything like that. The VW dealer has marked the miles on the title as non-actual, and I've noticed that the odometer only works sometimes- very typical for these cars. This is a used car that has survived far better than most. You can fly in to Cleveland (CLE) and drive this car home, or you can have it shipped.
