Vehicle Detail

This 100% original. 1951 Jaguar was found stored for 40 years or so in a barn/garage in Maryland. I can only find surface rust anywhere on car. The floorboards are solid,fender-wells are solid,I cannot find one rust hole at all on entire car! All the door jambs are solid and rust free! Remarkable! The stickers inside the drivers door show servicing by "Esso" oil co. in 1965 and 1966 and it appears the mileage was around 26k at that time. The owner for all that time was a retired pilot. The car is totally original and a great restoration candidate.Amazingly ,all the glass is perfect! ,All the doors ,open and close and the windows go up and down easily. You must see it in person to appreciate how rust free it is. I have a box of hoses and the gearshift position cap , original keys, extra RPM gauge,a couple of filters, extra handles. One truck latch handle has broken off but is with the car. The car is just as it was found in the barn except for being moved to my location. Please contact me with any questions or requests for more pictures. the body looks to be 99%+ Sound/Solid and RUST FREE! The pictures tell a lot. You can call me @ (202) 738-2156 for more Details. On Sep-29-12 at 21:38:26 PDT, seller added the following information: Crankcase is full of clean oil. (I believe the oil change was from 1966) Coolant was drained when the car was stored way back in the 60's. The owner was a Pilot and really loved the car. He built a garage around the car right where it sat 40+ years ago. He asked his surviving son to have the car restored. The son transfered the car to another individual who I aquired it from. The 2nd guy had it about 18 months but had to move so I made a deal to get her and that brings the story up to now. The promise of restoration and photo,s has been passed to me now. So I am asking whoever wins car to please restore it original and send pictures back for the original owners family. On Sep-30-12 at 07:40:34 PDT, seller added the following information: All doors still lock and the tires are almost as Old as th e car is but still have 80% -90% rubber treads and are holding air after all these years. This is truly an amazing find. There are only so many of these barn finds left .On Sep-30-12 at 18:43:13 PDT, seller added the following information: HAVE BEEN AIRING OUT THE CAR FOR THE PAST 2 DAY ALLOWING FRESH AIR INTO THE CAR'S INTERIOR WHILE WEATHER IS CLEAR AND DRY. ALSO I HAVE BEEN CLEANING ALL THE DUST AND SWEEPING/VACUMNING ALL THE LOOSE PARTICLES. THE CAR HAS BEEN CLOSED UP FOR MANY YEARS AND THIS PRELIMINARY CLEAN UP HAS DONE WONDERS. THE STEERING ON THE CAR IS AS TIGHT AS A NEW CAR. IF I MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL A HALF INCH OR SO THE WHEEL TURNS. IT IS ALMOST AS TIGHT AS A RACK AND PINION STEERING SET. {REMARKABLE!} THE INSIDES SMELL A LOT FRESHER SINCE I HAVE BEEN AIRING IT OUT{ EVEN THOUGH THE CAR WILL BE COMPLETELY RESTORED...I AM SURE THE OLD GAL APPRECIATES THE ATTENTION [LOL] THE SWIVEL TURN LOCKS ON THE REAR DOORS LOCK THE CAR. I WILL CHECK THE FRONT DOORS TOMORROW AS THEY BOTH LOCK WITH THE CAR KEYS AND REPORT THE RESULTS SOON! On Oct-02-12 at 14:45:08 PDT, seller added the following information: THESE ARE THE BODY,CHASSIS,GEARBOX & ENGINE NUMBERS FROM THE IDENTIFICATION PLATE ON THE ENGINE FIREWALL {PASSENGER SIDE} UNDER THE HOOD. CHASSIS# 730367 BODY# L001544 GEARBOX#341087 ENGINE# A2103-8 SOMEHOW THE MOTOR VEHICLE DEPT. USED THE ENGINE NUMBER AS THE VIN NUMBER. WHEN THE CAR IS RE-REGISTERED IT CAN BE CHANGED THE THE CHASSIS OR BODY NUMBER. NOW MAYBE SOMEONE OUT THERE CAN TELL HOW ALL THE NUMBERS MATCH AND PASS ON THE SOURCE AND INFO BACK TO ME.THANKS! On Oct-05-12 at 04:50:26 PDT, seller added the following information: Forgot to mention that The Body is Totally STRAIGHT! Not only is there no Rusting and no cracked or broken glass, But she is as straight as a Ruler. No Dings, No Dents. { Even my wife's 2012 Explorer has 2 dings it picked up in a parking lot somewhere a few months after she bought it} AMAZING! On Oct-05-12 at 11:04:16 PDT, seller added the following information: Got the Trunk open today! Trunk is solid and straight just like the rest of the car. No Rust Holes. Just surface rust here and there. Found another Instrument Gauge inside the truck. There is a manual Transmission in there also. It must be an Extra 4-speed jaguar transmission for the car. The Spare Tire, jack and Jack Handle are still mounted in their original positions inside truck corner. Everything found inside the truck goes with the Car.{ Unless I find Cash or Jewelry! {LOL!} On Oct-05-12 at 16:17:57 PDT, seller added the following information: Today I also found out that there are factory Tool Kits Built into Both front door lower panels. Also I found that both front doors also lock.{The driver side with a Key} The driver side Door Panel contains a built in tool kit with a grease gun. I am still trying to get the passenger panel open to see what's in that one. On Oct-05-12 at 16:56:59 PDT, seller added the following information: The Box of parts has Pedal Rubber Covers, some Chrome Stripping,Filters,Hoses,Radiator Hose, a Sun Visor Flap ,Some sort of Chrome Handle, and now there are spare RPM Gauge and a Spare Speedometer {140 mph} + the extra 4-Speed transmission I pulled from the trunk.
