Vehicle Detail
We are selling our loved 1963 pacific blue almost 100% original survivor bug. We found her in the barn of the estate of the 2nd owner. He passed away in 1979 and the bug sat untouched until we pulled her out and let her start life over with 41,000 miles. We took apart the fuel system and brake system to clean and replace as needed. Put in a new 6 volt battery, tires, oil and off we went around the block. After 32 years in a barn we could not get over how she came back to life so fast. I have my 63 bug and she has her 74 Thing, for some time now we have been looking for a spit window bus. Last week one came to us so I have to sell my bug to have the bus. The Boss, my better half, has set the rules only one toy each because of room. As much as I do not want to sell my bug the 67 bus is calling. The 63 Bug rides and drives like a new bug back in 1963. I drive her to work a few days a week if the weather was nice and to dinner with the family on Friday nights. All her lights work just fine. The motor runs like a top and has that VW sound that we all love with her stock muffler. She does not use or leak oil that I have found. The radio is for looks only. The windshield wiper switch needs to be replaced as it will not move after years of sitting in the barn. The wiper motor and other parts are all still in working order. The steering is tight and true with no play and she does not pull at all to either side. All the gauges and dash lights work even the fuel sender and gauge work. The speedo is smooth and accurate. The doors open and close with ease as a car should that has not been in a accident. The hood has a smile line small dent, see the photo, that goes from side to side. The Chrome got the worst of the cable hitting the car but it still opens from the pull inside the car and closes just fine. Please look at the photos and you will see she is almost rust free. The heater channels and the body have no rust that I can find other than light surface spots like where the paint has that million dollar patina look. Talking of heat yes the heater works and the heater boxes are solid. The floor pans are original and have some light rust but are not eaten up. She is a true original survivor all the way down to the owners manual. If you use the buy it now and are going to register the bug in GA she has a original 1963 red GA tag registered to her that i will let go with the car. The upholstery is rough but no springs in your butt. She had one repaint in 1969 when the 2nd owner bought her this was done at the dealer to make it look new not because of any accident. We spent hours with the 2nd owners nephew as he was the executor for the estate. He told story after story about the car as he went in 1969 with the family to buy the bug. Once again please look at the photos I tried to show all the good and bad so you get a true idea of the car. The last thing I want is to mislead anyone. I have had that done to me after driving half way across the country to buy my dream bus only to find out the photos were what it looked like years ago. We did find our dream bus now as I mentioned so bug has to be sold for the room. If you have any questions or want to go for a ride please email and we will be as straight forward and honest as we can be. My feed back of 100% tells it all. The miles may change some due to test drives etc. As for shipping, if you need to ship her we will try to help you any way we can like meeting the transportation truck in a parting lot in our town. Once again ask before you bid and we will be happy to help. Thank you or looking. Happy Bidding!
