Vehicle Detail

HELLO TO ALL. THIS IS OUR FAMILY OWNED LOVED 1957 CHEVROLET BEL AIR (REAL VC57 CAR) 4 DOOR POST SEDAN. EXTREMELY FUN TO DRIVE AND HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER, IF YOU CAN FIND ONE THAT HASN'T BEEN HOT RODDED OR RUSTED TO DEATH. My husband and I purchased it in Springfield Ohio a couple of years ago, while down there for the classic car show. We always wanted either a 56 or 57 Bel Air to use, and since prices on them have been skyrocketing, it's been difficult...if not impossible finding one priced reasonably that was reliable enough to be used daily. Once we got it back to NY, we garaged it and worked on it a little at a time, turning it into what it is today, a presentable and cool driver. Body is very nice and straight with very few waves in it. Doors open and close nicely. Gaps are all good from what I could see and panel fit is pretty good overall for an old Chevy. Mechanically the 350ci V8 in it it fires right up and sounds great. Transmission is a Turbo Hydramatic 350 with a mild shift kit and it shifts seamlessly without any noises. Brakes have been UPGRADED with a later model power booster and dual reservoir master cylinder. Now as for driving the car, i've taken it out mostly around the neighborhood here and there for a few functions, and sometimes we take it to the Island for a cruise. Brakes work well, although the pedal is a little stiff. Steers nice and swift without too much play in the wheel. Overall very sound and reliable car that can be used daily with minor tlc. Motor is an upgraded 350ci V8 replacing the original one that was long tired and gave up decades ago. Basically all stock with NO other upgrades or modifications other than the chrome accessories you see as well as an aluminum Edelbrock Intake manifold and Edelbrock 4bbl. carburetor. Like I said, you could get in and drive this car, since it's one of those vehicles that doesn't like sitting for long periods of time (the more you drive it, the better it gets). Interior has been nearly completely redone. OEM seat covers were installed by a local upholstery guy, and new door panels and headliner were as well. Carpet is very presentable. New sill plates. Overall a very nice driver quality interior. Underside is very nice and dry overall, being an original Ohio car. We've owned a few of these in the past and were very concerned with the underside. This particular Bel Air has a NICE frame, VERY SOLID trunk with one small patch in the center but NO HOLES ANYWHERE. Floorboards are in very presentable shape with a couple of small areas needing attention but not bad at all. The side braces are all intact (one had a little work done) which is very unusual to find on an older Bel Air as they are usually rusted out completely. THIS 1957 BEL AIR IS NOT PERFECT, SO PLEASE LOOK AT PICTURES, ASK QUESTIONS OR COME SEE IT IN PERSON. Paint is in FAIR shape and cleans up fairly well for a driver with normal imperfections (shows better in pictures than in real life, so please keep that in mind). Gauges need some wiring and playing with (original speedometer showing 45K miles is included with the car, as the current one was replaced with a later model one). Perhaps a bulb or two may need replacing where needed. Chrome bumpers and grill pieces should be replaced (we were going to do that next but didn't get around to it). Glass has cracks on side windows and front windshield and should be replaced (you can find all new glass on Ebay for around $350). Driver's side hood hinge is bent and hood doesn't stay up by itself. Could use carburetor adjustment depending on how long it's sitting without starting. There are various other small issues with it, as with any other old car, and i'm not gonna sit here and list them all as it would be no point. So overall she is nowhere near perfect and will need some form of TLC depending on how nice you want it to be and what you plan to do with the car. If you just want a NICELY PRESENTABLE DRIVER needing tlc, this is the car for you. If you want a show car, it will need some serious investment to bring it up to that level of course. I ENCOURAGE ANYONE BIDDING OR SERIOUSLY INTERESTED TO COME LOOK AT IT IN PERSON. I WILL BE GLAD TO SHOW IT TO YOU TOP TO BOTTOM SO YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU'RE GETTING INTO. AT THE VERY LEAST TAKE A LOOK AT ALL THE ADDITIONAL PICTURES ON THE LINK ABOVE.
