Vehicle Detail

For sale is my 1972 LTD convertible. Note that Ebay doesn't have a category for LTD so I put Galaxie as they use the same body. It is an LTD. I am an engineer from New Zealand and have owned this car for the last three months during my stay in USA. She has been 100% reliable as my only source of transport for work and now that I'm finished it is time for somebody else to enjoy her. Lots of people stop and comment on the car, mostly just to say "nice car" but I have also heard many stories of how people remember them back in the 70s. The cougars love her! My hobby is fiddling about with old cars so you'll notice below that I have replaced a fair few items to help make her reliable. Mechanicals are original and are in good condition. The engine starts and runs well well with no smoke or rattles, the auto trans shifts all gears nicely and the diff is quiet. There is a small oil drip from the steering box shaft seal and one from the bellhousing, both of which I'd consider normal for a vehicle of this age. The cooling system holds pressure and does not leak or use water. The air conditioning works although I broke a piece of plastic on the a/c housing trying to clean the leaves out of the core and this needs fixing to get a good volume of air out of the vents inside. The exhaust system has been replaced with dual glasspack pipes and makes a fantastic rumble at idle and a gentle purr while cruising. I made a short vid while in Key West here http://youtu.be/YALMXQdtLlQ The brakes are fully serviced with new front pads, new booster and new master cylinder as well as new caliper fitting hardware and new fluid. The rear shoes and cylinders are in excellect condition and the parking brake works well. The body has had a repaint a few years back in red 2K and it still looks good. Some mild customisation was done with deleting the side trims and marker lamps as well as badges. There is some spots of rust here and there but nothing out of the ordinary for a 40 year old car. The convertible top mechanism works well and goes up and down on the switch nicely. The top is new a month ago and still requires a few finishing jobs such as trimming the front and fitting the seal strip- I just ran out of time to finish this and it shouldn't be too challenging for anyone who can use basic hand tools. The interior is let down by scruffy seats. They were retrimmed a few years back and the fabric used isn't sun-proof so has deteriorated. I had planned on getting a seat cover for the front but it didn't happen so you'll notice in the pics the foam showing through the front seat. The wheels are older S/S Cragar and although they look good from a distance, they do have some flaking chrome on the spokes. The tyres are in excellent condition with about 4000 miles on the front ones. There is a small imbalance somewhere that comes in at 70mph so I drove the majority of a 2000 mile round trip to Nashville TN at 80mph where it is smooth. Parts I have replaced: Vacuum hoses AC belt idler/tensioner Spark plugs Brake booster and master cylinder Brake pads and caliper mounting hardware Brake fluid Valve seals and springs- cured a little puff of smoke on startup and improved cold idle Distributor vac advance Oil and filter change Auto trans vac modulator- adjustable type so modulator pressure can be set for best shifting Two front tyres- there was no spare when I got it so one was moved to the spare Convertible top- original was ripped and scruffy Convertible top hydraulic cylinders-power top did not work due to cylinder leaks Fan switch- blower fan and AC did not work due to burned out switch New parts recently fitted before I owned the car: Gas tank Battery Alternator Starter Payment: Deposit due after close of auction and full payment in cash to be made before pickup. Please ask any questions and/or view the vehicle before bidding as the final sale price is not negotiable after the auction ends. Pickup or delivery: I may be able to assist with delivery to a shipping agency if you are not local to Stuart, FL. I'd also have no problem recommending driving the car long distance. Recently drove from Stuart FL to Nashville TN and back with the top down all the way.
