Vehicle Detail
Reluctantly offered for sale, 1960 Porsche 356 BT5 1600 Super #110160. An excellent driver with a strong engine & transmission that runs great & still turns heads after 50 years. Interior is excellent. Lots of receipts & documentation with extremely detailed documentation from 1991 to present. Hoffman Motors in New York originally imported this car on December 29, 1959. Unlike many older Porsches offered for sale, this one still has its original motor and it’s a 1600 Super (see included authenticity certificate). The transmission, although strong & smooth, is newer and I’m not sure when it was replaced. The car spent most of its life down south. I have a partial list of previous owners, have actually spoken to a few and gathered the following…. The car was restored between 1976 & 1978 including new floor pans from PB Tweeks, new paint and interior. After that, there were four other owners prior to myself. The last owner’s father owned an import auto dealership in Ohio, the car was acquired in 2004 and the color was changed to black. I stumbled across the car, which was not listed for sale, in 2007 when I was taking a look at a 1963 BT6. The odometer shows just less than 79k miles but I’m sure it’s more than that. Since buying the car, I’ve had the brakes done, new oil pan & valve cover gaskets, new refurbished correct Bosch distributor, new fuel lines, carbs professionally rebuilt, new Optima 6v battery, new electronic blinker module, wheels blasted & painted and all gauges & original fuel sender refurbished by Palo Alto Speedometer in California. Tune-up in April 2011 included, Bosch platinum plus plugs, valve adjustment, the timing was set and carbs were adjusted & balanced. There is some fiberglass on the car and some minor paint blemishes. Included is a custom car cover from Pelican Parts. My plan was to drive & enjoy this car until I retired, then refurb & repaint it in it’s original slate grey color but plans change. I do have additional photos upon request. Please Note: I am currently working and living in Chicago, the car is located in my climate control garage in Grand Haven, Michigan. If needed I can arrange for a friend to show the car in person. If you have ZERO feedback on Ebay, please email me to request authority to bid on this vehicle. I do not release my reserve price, as this would be unfair to the other bidders, so please don't ask!
