Vehicle Detail
THIS IS A NO RESERVE LISTING. This is my 1990 Porsche 944S2 Cabriolet. This is a great-driving, collectible and rare high-performance Porsche. This car is the immediate precursor to the 968 Cabriolet. There were only 1800 of these cars made; this is the rarest 944 produced, and one of the rarest Porsches made. This car has 96,348 miles. This was the final, and best-performing version of the 944, with the 16V 3.0L engine with 208HP. This car is even better-performing than the 944 Turbo (951) due to a huge low-end torque advantage. Porsche contracted the help of the ASC company to produce factory 944 Cabriolets in 1990 and 1991 only. Production for 1990 was only 1824 cars. Therefore you are unlikely to find another one for sale, however parts are readily available. This car has the following equipment and options:3.0L 16V 208HP engine5-speed manual transmissionpower leather seatsfully lined and insulated convertible topBosch Anti-Lock ABS brakesdriver's airbagpower locks and windowsA/C- blows coldcruise controlcanvas convertible tonneau (parade boot)CD player with AM/FM and XM radio I also have the original books and manuals with the car, showing that the car was originally sold in Pompano Beach, FL. This car is a pleasure to drive, due to the excellent chassis balance and stability, plus the torquey and powerful engine. This 3.0L engine is the largest 4-cylinder engine in any modern car. This car handles, drives and runs great. The engine is smooth and powerful, the suspension and steering are tight and the brakes are great. There are NO known mechanical problems. You can fly in and drive this car home if you like- I see no reason this car couldn't make a trip anywhere. The paint is all-original, and the car hasn't been in any accidents. The paint is glossy, and it shines well. There is no body rust. The car looks gorgeous in its original Guards Red. Many people think this is much newer car than a 1990- it has a timeless look that has aged well. The correct aluminum wheels are in very good condition as are the tires, which have excellent tread remaining. The interior is all-original and it looks very nice. The carpets, plastics and upholstery are in good condition, looking very nice for the age. It isn't perfect; the front seats show some typical wear for the age, and a few seams have split a tiny bit from dried out stitching. The seats are comfortable and the padding isn't worn out. The rear seats look excellent. This is a 22 year old car, so it isn't perfect or brand new. Please expect normal wear and tear consistent with the age of the car. For example, the exterior has some minor nicks and scratches that have been brush-touched. and other normal, expected wear for the age of the car. There is a very small ding on the front end by the emblem. There is some minor paint fade on plastic body parts, but overall the paint is very good. You can fly in to Cleveland (CLE) and drive this car home, or you can have it shipped. I highly recommend Angels Moving Autos at 530 245 0481. Email me or call/text me at 440 339 4341 if you have any questions. This is a no reserve listing, so the car goes to the high bidder. However I have a number in my head that I'd take for the car, so call me if you'd like to work out a Buy It Now before the end of the listing. The convertible top was just professionally serviced by a upholstery shop I've worked with for years. The top was converted to manual operation (very easy to operate) and the frame was aligned, calibrated and serviced and it works great. The plastic rear window was replaced; it is brand new. The top fabric itself is a few years old, so it doesn't look brand new; there are a few ripples in the fabric, and one small cut on top. The bottom line is that it is a very servicable top that works great- it seals well and it will keep the rain and elements away from you when you need it. As mentioned, the car runs great and has no mechanical problems nor any immediate mechanical needs. I do not know the last time the timing belt was changed, so for those who are interested, I can arrange to have the timing belt, balance shaft belt and all five rollers replaced for $600. This is a steal if you are interested in this service. I can arrange to have it done before pickup (prepaid please); the winning bidder just needs to let me know.
