Vehicle Detail
1973 Volvo 1800 ES Original Unmolested California Car with Window Sticker, Bill of Sale and Extensive Documentation This is a extremely nice and well taken care of California Volvo 1800 ES. It has always been in California. This Volvo is in excellent condition with great Volvo/Jensen styling. It gets attention everywhere it goes! It is in a truly awesome original exterior/interior color combo. It has not been modified and is in stock, factory condition. This car is extensively documented and not like your typical one of these. Vehicle Description: There is NO rust through on this body as you would expect on a true California car. It is an original California blue plate car, but sadly they are no longer are no longer on it. The floors, doors, and fenders are original as well as the quarter panels. You can still see the original paint and sound deadening material in the rear hatch area. The original spot welds are also visible. Additional things you should know to wet your appetite even more about this cool ride: Original California Car - This means it is from a rust free climate Original Documentation - Always registered in California Original Window Sticker - The total MSRP was over $5,810 Original Bill of Sale - The price paid for it was $6,443 including the Genuine Volvo radio and roof rack Original Volvo Glass - All logo’s including one on the windshield are present Original Maintenance Records - Includes initial service maintenance and lots of service records Standard equipment on this Volvo Includes: Fuel Injection Electric Overdrive Air Conditioning Reclining Leather Bucket Seats Power Assisted Four-wheel Disc Brakes Electric Rear Defrost Deluxe Trim & Carpet with Locking Console Plus much more… Exterior/Interior/Mechanical Condition: The paint is in very nice condition. It was repainted in the original color. These cars were notorious for rust especially in the lower rockers and lower front fenders. Rust repairs in these areas can be the most expensive part of restoring one of these. Another sign that this vehicle is original is an area often overlooked by most. There is a vertical body line between the headlight and turn signals. These are often times repaired and bondo’ed over. These are NOT and they are clearly visible. Another very expensive part of restoring these is the chrome and window trim. Most of these get oxidized - especially by the window glass. The bumpers, grille surround, rear license plate chrome, side marker chrome, and the window trim are all in exceptional condition! This is a sign this car was garage kept and well cared for. The only imperfections is a minor paint imperfection and scratch by the right rear wheel opening and one by the front windshield. The interior is also in great condition. All gauges work - even the clock and interior lights work. Yes, even the original radio works. And this is not just any old radio. It is an original Volvo radio! This is another sign of a very original vehicle. The A/C is not working and needs a recharge. The odemeter is not working. The upper and lower dash has your typical cracks. The upper one has a repro cover on it and the lower one could use one. This vehicle runs and drives. The electric overdrive also works. Recent work includes a complete brand new exhaust system, heater control valve, battery and new tires. Like most cars of this age, it does leave a few drops of oil on the ground and it is a little cold blooded. Volvo purists know these cars run for a long time. Most Volvo aficionados are aware of a similar 1800 (Coupe) that has been driven for almost 3 million miles! It is not uncommon to find these with very high miles and still going. Other info to know about this vehicle and this auction: Please keep in mind this is almost a 40 year old collector car. I am not going to say it does not need anything; as I am not an expert and everyone is subject to their opinion and level of perfection. It does have your typical wear and tear for a car of this age. It does need a few things as I mentioned. I am not a mechanical expert and I have described it to the best of my knowledge. This car has been in California it's entire time. It is on a clean California title in my name and registered through June 2013. There is no warranty on it and TMU. About the P1800 and the Saint Connection: The P1800 was Volvo’s first sports car in 1961. Leave it to Volvo to only improve over time with this awesomely designed car. The later ones are even more desirable as they introduced fuel injection and 4 wheel disc brakes in 1970. This one has both of these highly desirable features. This car also is pretty rare as production for all 1800’s was less than 47,492 units over 13 years of production. The ES’s were only produced in ‘71-73 making this a fairly rare car. In 1973, the last year of production of the ES, there were 5,008 produced. The coupe version of this vehicle became very well known in the same exterior color and was driven by Simon Templar (with license plate ST1), played by Roger Moore; and was featured in the TV series The Saint beginning in 1962 and played a prominent role throughout the entire run of the show. Questions/Terms: This is a RESERVE AUCTION. This means it will not be revealed. Please do not bid unless you are serious and have all the funds available. This vehicle is available for inspection during the auction. Winning the auction does not mean it is an opportunity for you to come by and think about it. You are entering into a contract. Hate to sound negative, but these auctions can be come expensive to re-list. If you are a serious buyer then bid to win. Nice solid 1800 ES’s in this desirable color combination are getting harder and harder to find. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to own one of the legendary iconic cars from the 60’s and 70’s. Who doesn’t know someone who had a great story about these indestructible, great cars. If you are in the market for a very original, excellent condition, garage kept California 1800 ES, you will want to place a bid. Contact me through eBay if you have any questions or need any additional information. I am not interested in any trades of any kind. I am also able to assist with international buyers.
