Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a 2001 Honda Prelude Base with 131,200 miles, which has been my daily commuter vehicle. It's a very reliable vehicle that's a lot of fun to drive with great handling. This is also an original car that is equipped with the 5-speed transmission, power sunroof, rear spoiler, CD stereo and full interior power features. It's been unmodified with the exception of the stereo head unit (see below for details). It has the Nighthawk Black Pearl exterior and Graphite Black interior that are a great color combo. It's a rare car and was one of the very last Preludes ever built by Honda with a production date of 10/2001, which is actually the 2002 model year. Condition Report This car has been very well maintained and looks great for being almost 11 years of age. It's a 2-Owner vehicle and all maintenance records are available since early 2011, however, if you click on the FREE AutoCheck report included, you will see an extensive service history and many service records are listed going back to 2001. This is in addition to the maintenance I've had done that's detailed below. All available service records in hand will be transferred to the winning bidder. The VTEC engine is strong and powerful, starting up effortlessly every time and the transmission shifts smoothly (clutch was replaced a few thousand miles ago with all Honda parts). The heater heats the car up quickly in the winter and the A/C blows ice cold in the summer. The battery is still going strong (it's an 84 month long life battery so should be good for a few more years). The EPA estimates the mileage at 20 city/25 highway - I got about 22 mpg in mixed highway and local driving, always using the required premium fuel. This worked well for me given the excellent performance of this vehicle's engine. Below, I am fully disclosing everything I observed visually on the interior and exterior of the car: On the exterior, the Nighthawk Black Pearl paint is in very good condition, with only normal wear for its age, which means there are a some exterior scratches and one or two minor chips, as well as a tiny door ding on the driver side due to everyday driving. There isn’t any visible rust on the body that I could find. The paint is very glossy over the entire body with only minor imperfections that are normal for a car of this age and absolutely no dents. The undercarriage is also clean and in great condition and this car does not have any fluid drips underneath. The tires all have excellent remaining tread life (60-90%) and 2 tires only have about 6,000 miles on them as I replaced them last year. Three of the 4 tires are matching 205/50/R16 Fuzion HRI All Season Performance Tires and 1 tire is the same size but a Goodyear Eagle Authority All Season Performance Tire that I did not replace after I bought the car because it had (and continues to have) excellent tread life and looks sporty. All 4 wheels are factory original and have some minor curb rash, but it didn't bother me at all when I purchased the vehicle and they still look great to me. On the interior, the Graphite Black front and rear seats are still in very good shape with no holes or tears and no noticeable wear, as you will see in the pictures. All of the trim panels and trim pieces are intact, tight and in great condition. This is a non-smoker vehicle, and there aren’t any smoke odors or burn marks inside this Prelude. The steering wheel does have some scrapes but nothing is torn and the wear is not unusual for the age of the car. All lighting, mirrors, interior buttons and switches are functioning properly and all electronics work as they should. The power sunroof opens and closes smoothly. You'll notice the Alpine CDE-133BT Single Disc CD player that I installed earlier this year to replace the factory stereo, which was still working fine but I wanted Bluetooth so replaced it. This Alpine head unit has Bluetooth Audio that syncs up well with Apple IPhone or Android devices and has an external mic for good voice quality, Bluetooth Streaming for Music, Aux/USB inputs and sounds awesome with the amplified factory speakers. It cost me $140 from Crutchfield plus $100 for installation. I still have the factory stereo and will transfer to the buyer. The floor mats are original and have been kept in good shape. The driver's mat shows normal wear around the foot area but looks great and the other 3 mats show minimal wear that is not noticeable. The trunk area is likewise in good condition (see photos) and the spare tire, jack and accessories are all there. Note that in the trunk there are three small pieces of black gorilla tape that I placed over the inside screws that hold the trunk catch in place as they would get loose over time and this keeps them held perfectly in place and looks fine. Three keys and two fully functional remotes are included along with the original owner's and maintenance manuals in the glove box. You typically only get 1 key/remote but not with this car! The vehicle has a valid NJ inspection sticker good through May 2013 and it's ready to drive away with nothing that needs to be done until the next oil change. Please Note: 3,000 mile oil change is due in another 600 miles at 131,732 miles. So by now you might be wondering, why am I selling this Prelude if it's so great? Well, that's an excellent question and I would definitely want to know this if I were interested in this buying a quality used vehicle like you are. It's very simple. I'm the proud father of a beautiful 3-month old daughter that I am now driving to and from daycare every day. While I've been able to (barely) fit a car seat in the backseat, it's a huge pain in the butt to fold down and slide forward the front passenger seat and safely get her car seat strapped into the small backseat twice a day and then having to take it out when my daughter comes out each time. The other issue is that the passenger seat has to come so far forward to accommodate her large rear-facing car seat, that my wife has no leg room when the three of us want to go out so we always have to drive in her car. So, I've gotten tired of this daily grind and decided I need a larger 4-door car (much to my chagrin). I have spent a lot of money maintaining this car to run flawlessly and I really love this car, so it kills me to have to sell it, but I really need a bigger family car now so I my loss is your gain... Here is a complete list of maintenance items done in the past 16 months:June 2012 - High Mileage Oil Change and Fuel System Cleaning ($112) November 2011 - High Mileage Oil Change ($47)September 2011 - Clean EGR Valve/Port, Replace Ignition Coil, ($476)July 2011 - New Stabilizer Links/Bushings, Distributor O-Ring, Cam Cap, VTEC Gasket, ($532)June 2011 - Two New Fuzion HRI All Season Performance Tires from Tirerack.com ($176)June 2011 - New Clutch, Bearing, Slave & Master Cylinder, Manual Transmission Fluid Change ($1306)May 2011 - New Timing Belt, Timing Belt Tensioner and Water Pump ($534)Total Maintenance in last 16 months = $3,183 Will you get a great deal on this Prelude? Well of course I am going to say I think you'll get a terrific deal given the all the maintenance that's been invested since I owned it (Over 3 Grand in the past 16 months!), but don’t just take my word for it.
