Vehicle Detail

This is being re-listed due to a non-paying bidder. Pretty please, serious bidders only. 1986 Volkswagen Golf Wolfsburg Edition. I purchased this car in 2008 from a friend; I believe I am the third owner. I hate to sell it, but I live on a farm and need a truck. I've owned many vehicles, and this one has been, by far, the most reliable one. Every time our other car (currently a 2001 BMW, but it's also been an old Volvo and a Toyota) is out of commission for whatever reason, this old VW is always there to save the day! It's been a good daily driver, and I've driven it on a few 400+ mile trips, as well as monthly trips to my parent's house 90 miles away, and it's never let me down. Lately, I've mostly just used it to haul band gear to and from gigs. I like this car so much, that many times I've contemplated dumping a bunch of money into it and partially restoring it, and have always said that if I needed another car and could find one of these in good condition, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it. ANYWAY, if you're looking at this, you probably know all of the MK2 VW love stories, so I'll get on with some details, but keep in mind, I am not a car expert. Good: Starts and runs well. Shifts smoothly. Clutch is good. PA inspection until March 2013. Great on gas! About 3 years ago, the speedometer/odometer stopped working for about 2 months. I drove maybe 500 miles before getting it fixed, so the mileage is mostly accurate. Recently replaced: steering wheel, horn, turn signal lever, left front CV axle, radiator, shifter relay ball (so it doesn't feel all jiggly and you actually know what gear you're in). Spark plugs replaced little over a year ago. Front tires are pretty good, back tires still have some life. Has wheels from a MK2 GTI. VERY little body rust, none visible on underside. Bad: Muffler fell off about two months ago. Hood and roof are bare metal, but you can't really tell since the original color is silver. Could use an oil change. No A/C. Heater's a little weak, but that's only been since I re-installed the radio, maybe a hose or something is being pinched? Rear driver's side door latch is stuck. Tailgate won't stay up. Headliner is brittle. Seats are fragile (but comfy!) Windshield washer reservoir is cracked. Door seals need to be replaced. Email me with any questions. If you're from outside PA, you must do all pickup/shipping arrangements. Please do not bid if you don't intend to pay.
