Vehicle Detail
I have this 1971 Oldsmobile 98 sedan for sale, I purchased it from an estate with some other items. This car has been in storage for several years so it was not exposed to years of salt in the winters etc. The car runs and drives nicely, has a 455 rocket engine which really moves. The odometer says 18,??? on it, I cant prove that it hasnt went over but by the way the car looks I think its actual miles. It is a 4 door so not a desirable 2 door model but still a nice older sedan. Interior and body are good. I have sold cars on ebay in the past and do my best to describe everything I can since not every bidder can look at it in person. Take a look at my feedback and feel free to email me and i can also provide you with my phone number or you can come and drive it in person if you like. The following is what I can tell you about condition: Starting in the motor area-its very clean and was not washed up by me etc the way you see it is the way it was. No ticking noise etc, shifts good. A/C is not hooked up on it. Compresser turns but can not gaurantee it will work. Paint-Some rock chips from gravel roads on the front clip and car needs a good wash and wax. Car was tarped in the shed and previous owner had something spilll that got on the drivers side rear fender. You can see the paint is flaking off. Rear bumper has some blemish's in it not sure if buffing it would get it out or not just has a waxy apperance. Both rear fender flares have quarter size rust spots on them. Car has a few little scratchs here or there, nothing that really stands out. Top-Vinyl top has no rips in it but does need washed or cleaned. Tires-Tires have good tread but are older tires. Glass-All glass is good. Interior-Seats are good and not ripped or faded. Dash is not cracked but does have a very small drilled hole in it, like something was mounted there once. (size of a ball point pen tip) Clock runs but not sure if it keeps time. Radio works(am). Vent controls work as they should. Wipers the same but do need new blades. Some of the original paper work is in the glove box. Power seats and windows, and also locks all work as they should. Carpet is not stained but needs a good cleaning probably. Headliner is good and not sagging. Seatbelts are even hanging up where they belong. Cruise functions but has tape around the control arm like it was broke at one time. Trunk-Trunk is very clean and not stained or carpet tore. Jack doesnt even look like it was used, I forgot to check the tire but I would bet its the original one. I believe that is all but I may add updates incase I forgot something or someone thinks of something I missed. I hope this ends up with a person that appreciates these older big (boat) cars. I realize with gas prices etc they are not economical anymore but it wont be long and some of these will be more collectable because demo derby guys are using them up or parting them out. As I said earlier shoot me an email and ask questions I want to explain everything the best I can. Thanks for looking. **I will be adding more photos, my camera lost a few I had taken. Please watch for an update. On Sep-13-12 at 13:06:14 PDT, seller added the following information: ***I added some more photos today of the car. Im getting alot of questions on what state I am in, I dont know why it doesnt say on the listing but Im in Wakefield Nebraska. About 35 miles from Sioux City Iowa. Thank you for looking and feel free to ask any other questions. On Sep-15-12 at 18:18:31 PDT, seller added the following information: ***I replaced the wiper blades and gave the car a wash today. A couple people have asked, can I drive this home? Of course you can, have someone come with you to drive your other vehicle home and get in this one and go! Turn the radio to your favorite AM station and your ready to cruise. Keep the questions coming. On Sep-18-12 at 10:00:18 PDT, seller added the following information: **Have had a couple more questions about paint on this car, it does have its flaws as an older car would but overall it really needs a good professional wash and wax. I think it would make the paint shine better. Its kind of a dull green if you ask me. Here is another way to think of this, the car is presently at 2,050 dollars and it will sell to the high bidder. If you went to a car lot in your town and wanted to purchase a work car nothing to fancy but something reliable engine wise etc it would cost you 2 thousand or more for that work car. So this car is at least a good work car but old enough to be antique and getting collectable. The strong point is the 455 engine that it has, they are not easy to find anymore. Granted it likes its fuel but if your looking for the old fasioned get up and go car this is it. Also had someone ask about the tires, they hold air and have good tread but are older tires. I wouldnt be afraid to drive this around the way it is, but it could be a smoother ride with new tires. Feel free to call me at 402-369-2497 if you have questions, this ends tommrow and I may not be around to answer emails fast enough before this ends. Thanks for watching this week.
