Vehicle Detail
THIS CAR RE-LISTED AFTER WINNING BIDDER PROVED UNREACHABLE. OK, bidders, this is an absolutely loaded, top of the line Bonneville that I have owned for about 5 1/2 years and is drivable, but unfortunately has a number of problems. Let's start with what the problems are: 1. Transmission starts to buck after about 45 minutes of driving. It will need to be replaced. 2. We are told the catalytic converter is on its way out (though it was replaced a couple of years ago and will probably not die immediately.) 3. Power steering can be unusually stiff at times, and there are noticeable "thumping" sounds in the column. 4. Trunk has a stubborn leak we could not repair. Finally drilled a small hole in the trunk floor for drainage. 5. Rust spots beginning under gas filler door and very lightly on chrome rims (see photos.) 6. Has split in front lower valance panel and rubber insert needs to be re-installed (see photos.) 7.12-CD changer is inoperative and has no cartridge. Dash mounted CD and tape deck both work. 8. A few backlights on the dash are out, but only the radio display is unreadable. 9. Has its share of scratches, chips, dings, cracks, rubs and one very slight, small crease on side (see photos) 10. Oil Pressure gauge hasn't worked in years (no oil burning problem, however) 11. Fabric on leading edge of moonroof interior slide/cover is coming loose. 12. Vanity mirror lights inoperative on both sides. 13. I've only got one remote and set of keys. OK, I think that about covers the bad news. Now for the good: Engine and supercharger are in good shape, tires are all pretty new (at least three replaced in the 18 months.), Brakes are excellent, suspension is fine, regular oil changes performed throughout time of our ownership, unique Heads-Up Display works well as do all other power options not mentioned above. AC blows cold air, heater works fine (dual climate controls, BTW.) Interior is in pretty nice shape, car has all manuals, both fog lights work. This car has, I believe, every option except the engine-block heater. It is a neat ride (love how the orange interior lights look at night, like an aircraft cockpit.) It has fully customizable options for two drivers. The car uses premium but gets about 20-21 MPG and the 240 horse supercharged engine is powerful (superchargers, BTW, are not turbochargers. They are much more reliable.) Traction control helps in bad weather. Bottom line? The car is too big for my wife (who has driven it since 12/10) and has too many problems for us to want to put anymore $ into it. If you are a mechanic, or have to have an SSEi but need one cheap, or you just want to part out a very highly optioned Pontiac this might be your car. Any and all questions, feel free to e-mail. On Sep-05-12 at 05:12:02 PDT, seller added the following information: The windshield has a tiny crack. It has been there since I bought the car in 2007 and has not expanded so I assume it was treated. There is also about a 1/2 inch chip that happened within the last year. We had that one treated and it has not expanded either.
