1979 PORSCHE 911SC TARGA In my opinion, the SC cars are among the most robust and trouble-free 911s to own. I would also argue that they are among the most attractive and affordable. They offer the value of the venerable 3.0 air cooled engine, exceptional handling, excellent exterior appearance, and have enormous support for upgrades through a variety of aftermarket performance manufacturers. Stories of 200K mile SCs are common. In fact, in his book, Porsche 911 Performance Handbook, Bruce Anderson cites a story of one daily driver with 455,000 miles without an engine rebuild. With proper maintenance and driving technique these cars can be a faithful companion for years. Interior: Spartan and purposeful - as a race car should be. Good heater, I upgraded the steering wheel with a MOMO model (original inld). There's not much of a back seat, and you'll be lucky to find seatbelts in the rear for most SCs but my car have them. Exterior: I've saved the best for last. The SCs (and later Carreras) are in my opinion the most handsome of the modern 911s. The body colored bumpers, blacked-out trim, 16" Fuchs wheels, make these cars universally identifiable and truly classic. Even though Porsche started galvanizing the bodies in 1978, watch out for rust in the following spots: - Bottom of A-pillars (windshield) - Inside doors - Inside front fenders (where battery an oil cooler reside in close proximity) - Lift points - Floor boards My car has no rust in any of these areas in fact not anywhere on car. the 911 runs and looks fantastic. The new owner will be very happy with the cars condition and how it runs. - I think you'll be amazed at just how fun a 33 year old sports car can be. These cars are trending up in price, I hate to sell this car, but I must, I hope it finds a good home!
