Vehicle Detail

Here's a great vintage GMC one ton plus (11,000lb gvwr) 4x4 chassis cab, that was purchased new by the city of Celina, Ohio, with a Sutphen/American body mini pumper conversion. Its mechanically excellent and shows only 57,000 miles, with a working PTO driven Hale pump and 250 gallon holding tank, power booster reel, generator power outlets and spotlights. It was removed from service after the city purchased a new F550 unit. Included is a stack of service receipts, original owners manual, copy of original title, and manuals for the siren, PA unit, and other items that were originally ordered with this truck. Mechanical: 350 engine with Quadrajet carb, bulldog 4 speed, 4.56 gears, chassis cab width rear dually axle. Tires are about 1 year old. Documented recent maintenance includes starter solenoid, cooling service and hose replacement, and regular oil changes, etc. Starts and runs like a new truck, never overheats or misses a beat. Will run at highway speeds despite the gearing. Tires have typical off road noise and feel, but otherwise the truck handles like a much newer one. Brakes work fine and stop well. Body: Some minor rust blisters as pictured. Doors both have stress cracks from mirror mounting. Drivers door is slightly misaligned and squeaks against the fender sometimes when opening, but hinge pins are ok. Depression in hood that doesn't show up in pictures. Some scuffing of the paint from decal removal, but it should polish out. Floors, frame, body mounts, etc are excellent. Fire equipment: The body is in great shape and all compartments have sturdy doors with stainless pull latches and spring loaded over center bars to hold them open. They close smoothly and don't rattle. Tank is a 250 gallon unit which feeds a Hale CBP 250 gpm pto driven pump. Features 2.5" intake, two 2.5" discharges, plus a front swivel discharge, and power driven booster reel. Hoses, etc were removed from the unit prior to my purchasing it, but pump does function. Electrical: The master panel was removed by previous owner, and the spotlights, tank fill indicators, panel lights, etc need to be reconnected to function. However the booster reel and pump primer function. All the stock electrical functions of the truck work - headlights, turn signals, taillights, etc. The rear body compartment is setup for a generator and has a connection to feed several outlet boxes on the body. Other options: Truck has factory radio delete, and no AC, but does have power steering, hydroboost brakes, manual locking hubs, factory rubber floor, and manual windows. 4 wheel drive works properly and shifts/engages ok. There's a door jamb sticker listing the GVW at 11,000 lbs and it has the spring packs to show it! Its a wonderful rig, I really can't use the fire equipment aside from watering the garden. So I'd end up modifying it, and that's a tough call when you've got such a clean, original truck. Its not in showroom condition, but its much better than any well-used off road truck you'll find out there. Truck is located in New Richmond, Ohio, just east of Cincinnati near the river. Inspections welcome. Reasonable reserve, and I'm a flexible seller. There are over 40 pics, please browse them all. Thanks for looking!
