Vehicle Detail
Some bidders may recognize this truck, since it was on Ebay around a week ago. I had arranged a sale with someone and ended the auction early, the first time I have ever ended an auction early. That deal fell completely through. Please, let us all be very serious and businesslike here. Please do not bid or commit to buy unless you actually have the money you are promising. That deal only wasted all of our time and prevented the right buyer from the sale, so on this go-around the auction will NOT be ended early. I have decided the time may be right to sell my truck, but I know I'll miss it! This is a fantastic vehicle that I personally built a few years ago. It is a 1948 Studebaker M-5 Truck, sitting on the frame and running gear from a 1989 Dodge Dakota longbed truck. That means she's got power steering, power brakes, automatic transmission, and does interstate speeds. It's fuel injected and has anti-lock brakes even. This truck is totally reliable and has been my daily driver to work and school for the last three years off and on, typically thirty miles a day five days a week, rain or shine, summer or winter. This is not a thrown-together "toy" rat rod. We recently moved into a different house and did the whole move with this truck. The V6 Dakota engine is no speed demon, and has a lot of miles on it, not really sure how many. It has been very reliable, but it does use probably a quart of oil a month with as many miles as I put on it. That said, I drive it everywhere, any distance with no hesitation. I fabricated the flatbed to match the longbed frame length, and it has been very useful. There is a super strong anchor point at the front, a permanent cab guard, dual side-mounted toolboxes, and a hydraulic boom on the back that can pick up a motorcycle or an engine, and swing it into the bed. This truck has overload springs and air shocks, and I have hauled probably 2000 pounds of cargo in the bed at a time. The short and tall bedsides shown are included. I also have the original Studebaker stepside bed at a different location if the buyer is interested. There are really too many details to include here, interested buyers should ask me for more specific details. The rear fenders are from a 1949 Ford truck, the gas pedal is a '47 ford part, the brake pedal is from a '68 VW engine, the Speedometer is from a 1925 Dodge car, ect. The bench seat is from the Dakota, reupholstered hot-rod style with a Mexican blanket. I chose to keep the aged appearance, as it's attractive the way it is and is easy to live with. For the last two years I have given it a yearly rub down with linseed oil, keeps it preserved. If you drive this vehicle, you have to be prepared to make new friends in parking lots everywhere you go! Please consider this carefully, and happy bidding! Please E-mail me for the movie link, apparently you can't put a Youtube movie in an Ebay ad. Thanks!
