Vehicle Detail

Now that all the big block E body 'Cudas are priced out of range of most of us, what's next? Seems obvious to me, the best looking Plymouth after the E body (70-74 Plymouth Barracuda) is the A body (67-69 Plymouth Barracuda), one of which is for sale here for a most reasonable reserve. The car is a solid modified original big block 383 V8 4bbl HP engine rated by the factory at around 340hp with the beefier K frame and mounts for big block engines up to the legendary 426 Hemi. The car for sale here is a very fast Barracuda big block 383 cid (originally, not certain now, feels like more to me) V8 with 727 Torqueflight auto transmission and 8 3/4" rear with 3.91 gears. Car has been built up by the last two owners, not by myself. All of the information contained in this auction is from them, altho its clear to even the uninitiated like myself that this is a well built and a very fast car. I bought it for fun of course, what else, not going to make a good commuter car with 3.91 gears? Problems with my back have made it too difficult to work on or drive the car so I am passing it on to the next lucky owner. Car is solid, tight, drivetrain feels very strong and recently built altho there are no records to corroborate that. Car is an original 383 4bbl HP engined car and has the correct K member and frame and mounts for a big block, in case you decide it should have a 440 or even a Hemi. Why not, its cheap enough to buy and play with until you make it yours just the way you would have ordered it in 1969? As for rust, I cannot find any structural rust, just a bit of paint bubbling on exterior panels easily taken care of. I won't try to fool anyone, she needs paint. For the drags or just going out looking for trouble while night prowling its fine but in the harsh light of day it does need paint. Origianlly B3 blue as evidenced by the paint behind the door panels. There are no fender tags, so the original options are unknown. So its like a blank canvas, make it what you want it to be, or just drive it as is and have a blast embarassing better known muscle cars like those everpresent Mustangs. Chrome on bumpers is great, delicate original grilles are good with no obvious cracks and they even have good headlite rings. Car has the original Barracuda steering wheel not on the car but it is included, originally green plastic with three spokes and the fish in the center. Nice shape, ready to put on if you prefer it to the Grant. Extra gauges like the tachometer will give you the info you need to drive it fast but safely. I am NOT suggesting any laws be broken, take the high speed stuff to the track, but once in awhile unleashing the HP at a stop light can be entertaining. The following is a list of modifications I believe is accurate, it came from previous owners but without documentation: Centerline 15" wheels, rears are really deep with good tread Hoosier radials, 295/50R15 rear and 205/60R15 fronts. Plenty of tread left to burn off at the drags. Generic 480 lift cam Holley SD manifold with Thermoquad carb, all relatively new with electric choke Mallory competition fuel pump 110 with full 3/8" fuel lines thruout Good looking generic headers feed into full 3" exhaust with a Dr. Gas X pipe and Walker Dyna Max Super Turbos TTI 3" tailpipes and new hangers Correct style exhaust tips in STAINLESS STEEL, not rusty old chrome Newly rebuilt manual steering box with ZERO backlash on center .990 inch torsion bars, recent pitman arm and idler The VIN BH29H9B193915 decodes as follows: Code B - Model - Plymouth Barracuda Code H - Price Class - High Code 29 - Body Type - 2 door sports hardtop Code H - Engine - 383ci V8 4bbl HP ( B motor) Code 9 - year - 1969 Code B - Assembly Plant - Hamtramck, MI Seqluence number - 193915 Interior is really pretty good, seats are solid, dash top looks like a recent (expensive!) replacement, carpets are very good with little evident wear, console may or may not be original but looks good in there, extra instruments including a tachometer right in the line of sight. I believe all the accessories like wipers and lights work fine, but havnt driven it for awhile so no guarantees. You can see how solid and original the body is from the pics of the trunk, even has the sloppily applied factory goop that seals up the cracks and seams and the sparet tire well is very solid. Has a spare on a rallye wheel which could be spruced up a bit. Optima battery relocated to the trunk to help weight distribution with appropriately sized wiring. Car starts easily and runs well, the previous owner told me the sea level oil pressure is 150 straight across. At 7500 feet elevation the readings I might take would be lower and not representative of most of the county. Speaking of the rest of the country, transport is the sole responsibility of the high bidder/buyer altho I do have a friend who if he is available could transport the car to your location on an open single car trailer which if you have done much transporting of cars you will realize is far, far better than the high volume big multi car trailers which you can never be sure have taken good care of your new car. All too often the car ends up sitting in some truck lot waiting for another carrier, or is on and off loaded multiple times to get the other cars off increasing the risk of damage significantly. Car is sold as is where is with no warranty expressed, implied or even hinted at or whispered. Car is represented as well as I am capable of describing it but any errors I may have made are unintentional and due to lack of experience with American muscle cars. I bought the car largely because my first new car out of college was a Barracuda formula S 4 speed I enjoyed driving very much, even went on to buy two more mopars before switching to mostly English and German cars. So I hope you will bid with confidence I have done my best to describe a car I consider far more solid than most 40+ year old American cars. Thanks for looking and bidding and I hope if you really want the car you are able to win and own it. On Sep-03-12 at 20:16:43 PDT, seller added the following information: Another eBayer was kind enough to inform me that the H code or big block A body cars were relatively rare with something liek 400 having been built in 1969. So this is a rare car that perhaps should be brought back to original B3 blue and specs but is still not too expensive to just modify as you wish. The vin is in the dash plaque and the number is also stamped into the front underhood cross member so there is no doubt it is an H code car. If I knew where to look I would check the engine number for originality but I do not. I am not a Mopar expert by any means, just like their sixties and seventies cars. I understand Galen Govier can provide an original build sheet for a price and am told this car should be added to the register, also at a price. I will leave that to the next buyer since it seems Mr. Govier is not taking any new orders right now according to his website. On Sep-07-12 at 17:09:02 PDT, seller added the following information: Reserve lowered, next bid will meet the reserve and the high bidder will definitley get the car. Please do not bid if you are not prepared to meet the payment requirements and payment time constraints. Your bid is not a chance to inspect the car, if you are high bidder it is yours and you are expected to pay for it and pick it up within a reasonable time. I will try to help with transport and can keep it safe here pretty much as long as necessary, but ultimately it is the buyers responsibility to arrange transport in a timely fashion. I have a friend who I trust will all my cars from the $7500 Barracudas to the $35k Lexus RX400h and Mercedes CLK55 AMG Cabriolet he has brought me from Florida, Texas, California and you name it. Trustworthy, honest, prompt and qualified, he is worth waiting a few extra days for if his schedule requires it. I have waited months for him to bring me cars, I rely on him that much.
