Vehicle Detail

This car is being sold with NO RESERVE. This is my 1971 Triumph TR6 roadster with only 60,650 original miles. This car has had the same owner for the past 17 years, and I have a huge collection of all the service and maintenance records going back to 1999, totaling over $8600 in work. This is a reliable, dependable car in every way. I see no reason this car could not make a cross-country drive if you wanted. You can fly in and drive this car home with no worries (other than you are driving a 41 year old car!) If you want a beautiful, reliable, fun TR6 that you can drive with no worries, this may be the one. The stack of receipts for work that has been done to the car totals over $8600- no expense has been spared keeping this car in top running condition. This car has the relatively rare overdrive unit, and it has been recently rebuilt and it works perfectly. The car is a classic British sports car layout- 2.5L six cylinder front engine, 4-speed manual transmission, and rear wheel drive with independent rear suspension. This car retains the original carbureted setup, twin SU carburetors and like most everything on this car, they have been completely rebuilt and tuned up. As a 1971 car, it is MUCH more desirable than the 1973+ smog-choked, ugly-bumpered versions. It has no emissions equipment, and has the lower-profile British bumpers rather than the later ugly rubber-bumperettes. As mentioned, the stack of receipts totals over $8600 in work done since 1999. A summary of the major work done includes replacement of the clutch, clutch master cylinder and all components; rebuild of carburetors, gaskets and linkage; new u-joints and wheel bearings; new exhaust; new water pump; complete rebuild of the entire brake system including brake lines, master cylinder, wheel cylinders and pads/rotors/shoes; new radiator and hoses; rebuilt fuel pump; overdrive unit rebuild with solenoid; new window regulators; rear differential service; new fuel tank, fuel lines and rebuilt sending unit; plus pages and pages of routine maintenance and minor fixes. No expense was spared on the service of this car. This car starts, runs and drives beautifully. This is a superb-driving, great-handling TR6 that is an absolute pleasure to drive. It is powerful, torquey and smooth. The steering, brakes and transmission operate great. The engine starts perfectly and idles very smoothly and quietly (this is unusual). The clutch is strong and the transmission shifts perfectly. The engine is powerful and smooth throughout the rpm range and the exhaust sound is wonderful. There are no exhaust leaks, nor any fluid leaks other than maybe a few drops of oil. The brakes are strong and the overdrive unit engages and disengages perfectly. There are no known mechanical problems with the car. All of the guages work properly and accurately including speedometer, odometer, tachometer, temperature, oil pressure, ammeter and fuel guage. The car has an older repaint in good condition. The paint is glossy, shiny and looks nice. I would say it is a 5-footer. There are stone nicks that has been brush-touched, some minor paint fade (this car was kept in FL) plus other minor exterior issues, paint wear, swirl marks, etc. The body panels themselves are nice and in good condition, and there is no body panel rust. It has panel gaps pretty typical of a TR6, which is to say not very good. This car looks very nice overall, and it turns heads wherever I go. I cannot stop for gas without answering a few questions and getting some admiring looks. The interior is clean and looks nice. It is very presentable and comfortable. It looks nice, but also looks original to a car this age. It shows normal wear and tear for the age, the carpets aren't perfect nor are the top door panel trim pieces. I do have two brand new, British-made inside door panels that come with the car but have not been installed. The weather stripping seals and the windshield gasket are worn and the carpets are frayed on the edges. The driver's seat has been taped where it had been worn. This interior looks perfectly nice and presentable- please see the photos. The car comes with a tonneau cover which covers the entire interior. The convertible top is serviceable and goes up and down fine. The plastic windows aren't particularly clear but they aren't cracked. The top will work fine if you get caught in rain or want to put it up overnight. This car has the original Triumph radio which works great. AM only! The tires are in good condition but are older and could probably stand to be rebalanced. The car comes with many books, service manuals and TR6 enthusiast publications, as well as the huge stack of service records and receipts going back to 1999. Please keep in mind this is a 41-year old unrestored car. It has normal, expected issues consistent with its age and it isn't cosmetically perfect. I wouldn't rule out any unknown issues either, although there are no known problems. Forgive me if this description points out too many faults; this really is an attractive, nice-looking car. I'd just rather be more complete in my description than less. You can fly in (CLE) and drive this car home, or you can have it shipped. I recommend Angels Moving Autos at 530 245 0481 for a shipping quote. Tell them you're shipping from John in OH, they know who I am.
