Vehicle Detail
1949 Ford F-1 Pickup Truck. This is a neat old Barn Find. I am listing this for a friend. It has been his project and part time cruiser for the past couple of years. It mostly just sat in his barn. He found this truck a couple of years ago, sitting in another barn. I don't know how much of it's life, this truck has spent in storage, but I think the 81,000 miles is accurate. This Truck has a clean and clear Ohio Title. The Truck has a coat of faded Red Paint with some ruddy Red Primer added to give it a worn and rusty look. The original color appears to be Green, but there is some Blue paint on it too. This Truck has never been restored, as far as I know. This truck has that cool shop worn look everyone is looking for in a Vintage F-1. The Body on this truck is good. There are some dents and dings, and rust in the Running Boards. The faded paint and dings add to the shop worn look. The Truck has it's original Flathead V-8 Engine and 3 Speed Manual Transmission with the shifter on the Floor. The Engine starts easily and runs and idles well. This is the best running Flathead I've seen in a long time. It has complete exhaust and runs smoothly and quietly. The Truck has Manual Steering and Manual Drum Brakes. It Starts, Stops, Runs and Shifts through the Gears very smoothly. The Truck starts and runs on an original style 6 Volt Battery. The Lights and most Gauges work. Amp Gauge indicates that the Generator is charging, when the truck is running and we have not had the need to jump start it, so I guess it works. The Fuel Gauge does not function, but the wire is disconnected at the sending unit. It may work, if re-attached. I am going to try that, this week. This truck is very solid. The Cab Floor is solid. There is a nice Vintage Rubber Mat in the Floor. The Cab is solid. The Dashboard is solid. The Original Seat looks nice and is in good condition. There is a nice Leather Cover Sewn on the Steering Wheel. The Headliner looks good and is probably an aftermarket piece. The Cab Corners are good. The Roof and Rear of Cab are good. The Doors are both good and close and latch perfectly. There is some rust in the bottom of the Driver's Door. The Windshield is Good. The Driver's Door Glass has a small crack that you may not be able to see in the pictures. The Passenger Door Glass is cracked, but rolls up and down. The Rubber around the Windows and Doors appears to be original, but is soft and in surprisingly good condition. I can only guess that this is from sitting inside for so many years. The Running Boards must have had the usual rust in them. They have been patched with a piece of steel. The Front Fenders both look good, but have dings and rust in them. At some point the Front Bumper was Shaved and the Front Fenders were Smoothed to cover the Bumper Bracket Holes. The Hood is good and has nice Stainless Steel Trim. The Grill has some dings in it. The Rear Fenders are good but have rust, dings and scratches. The Bed of the Truck has a piece of Steel mounted in it. The Tail Gate is there, but appears to have been patched, welded and fixed, a few times, over the years. The Chains are there and original The Hinges are not original. The Faded Paint on the truck is awesome and really makes this truck. The truck is sitting on a set of original 16" steel wheels and Vintage Original hub caps. The tires are Bias Ply and are in excellent, almost new condition. I think my friend put these on the truck shortly after he bought it. Like I said, I am listing this for a friend. I will try to answer any questions, but may take a day or so, if I have to call and get information from him. This Truck is dependable and can be driven. It drives well and doesn't wander down the road, but remember, it is still 63 years old. It has not been driven on any long trips in years. I would advise the new owner to tow it home. I may be able to assist with delivery, for a fee, within a few hundred miles of Canton, Ohio. I am posting good pictures and tried to give a good description of the truck. I will try to answer any questions through email. This truck sells without reserve to the highest bidder.
