Vehicle Detail
Unfortunately this Benz has suffered from neglect. I bought it maybe 12 years ago to drive, then got run over on my Harley, lost a body part and interest in most everything I had. So be it. It has hardly moved since then except maybe to get new tires. Where to start ..... ground up. The tires were installed new when bought and have all the tread left. Upon inspection they do not appear to be dry rotted, however I'm sure they have flat spots from sitting that need to be run out. The factory silver painted alloys are in exellent condition, no scratches or dents, but need new silver laquer and clear coating to be re-applied. The wheel wells and everywhere on the body show no signs of rust at all where I can see, although I cannot see underneath. All panels and doors are perfectly straight and close smoothly, except the top left front fender has a dent, must have happened when moved around the lot of my friends' auto repair shop, who has stored it without complaint for years. I didn't put that dent there. All doors close perfectly. The trunk is undamaged. Before it sat for years, the engine bay looked great and the engine purred like new. It will not start, I repeat IT DOES NOT RUN, the car does not run, she will turn over (I repeat this as a number clients, some winners of my auction, did not realize this and expected to come and drive it away - unbelievable ) as I'm told that the gas tank is rusted inside and the fuel system contaminated as well. As seen in the one photo, the coolant reservoir is clear and blue and I have not changed that at all. All grills, turn signals and lenses are clear and undamaged except the headlight covers are shot. The bumpers are not damaged, again just faded to oblivion. Can't you tell I'm real fricking proud of this, taking a mint car and letting it just fade away. Back on track, the interior leather which I believe is called glove white, is not worn at all, not cracked, just exellent front and back and in all areas including door panels and rugs. No cracks on the dash or gauge panel either. The interior wood is original and has no damage but has that thin cracking in the coating in some areas which is common. This car is a palette to make right again, or have your own needy car inhanced by it's abundant amount of original and superb bits and pieces. If one squares away the entire fuel system from the gas tank to the injection system and add paint of choice and whatever else, a shining low mile star could be reborn. How poetic. Almost forgot, she has a sunroof! I know it went back and forth in years past! AS IS. I reserve the right to end the auction early as it is available locally, however I will respect any offer I agree to. I am bitter about what has happened to this great car. Hopefully someone else has a plan that she needs. Please feel free to ask ANY questions. I rest. Paul The mileage is 79227. She was just checked, 4/4, and it turns over easily with good compression, as said before it will not start. Again, the interior is fantastic, engine room looks much better since I just power sprayed it. All exterior panels undamaged except for a grapefruit sized dent in left front fender at top by hood and headlight, no damage to hood. I ran out of pix, however I think I can e mail it to you if you request so to sailorlip at verizon dot net. Just get it! At this price you cannot go wrong. Just went over to the 420 recently. Cleaned and treated the leather ............. nice. Re-looked at dash, door panels, foot sills, all in exellent condition. Looked at the alloys, not a ding on them, no curb rash, again they need the coatings re-applied as mentioned earlier.... they're probably worth hundreds for the set by themselves, again tires have no wear or rot. Parts alone probably make her worth well more than the sale price. Luck be with you. Paul I reserve the right to sell her end the aution early, as there are folks locally who have an interest. I have had three deadb...t buyers whom have never shown up or puchased the car. Please don't be the third.
